We have some very exciting news to share! 💛

We have adopted a donkey and a horse from the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary for our Preschool — please meet Woody & Wallis! 🫏🐴🥰

We’re so excited to be able to follow their journey and share their adventures with the children. If you ever visit the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, please look out for Woody & Wallis and, if you can, take a photo for us! 📸 We’d absolutely love to see them and share your photos with the children.

When we return to Preschool, we’ll be sharing the exciting news with the children, showing them photos and reading the newsletters when they arrive, so they can learn all about their very special adopted friends. ❤️

We can’t wait to see more of Woody & Wallis and follow their adventures! 🥰🫏🐴

The first few days of holiday club have been so much fun.

Today we had a super special visit from George the therapy dog! He was so calm with the children and the children were absolutely amazing with George. The children each got to walk George around the hall with some help from his lovely owner. Some of the children helped to treat George with a yummy sausage, delicious.

His owner answered some questions about George, explaining to the children some of the jobs he has. George volunteers once a week visiting lots of different people, helping them to stay happy and cheering them up if they are unwell. We loved this opportunity and are so grateful that George and his owner took the time to come into preschool to visit our children. We hope he will come back again soon to see some more of the children. 🐶 Therapy Dogs Nationwide

We are growing our own butterflies at preschool! 🦋
The children have loved learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and watching our caterpillars grow (they are currently in their cocoons) this has given the children the opportunity to ask lots of questions and learn through experience by seeing the changes everyday! The children are very excited for when the butterflies emerge. We have been reading our hungry caterpillar book and using our interacting puppet story, the children can feed the caterpillar all of the food from the story! Extending the children’s learning with a butterfly & insect tuff tray and learning the makaton signs for butterfly and caterpillar 😊

Story crates! 📚💭
These are our amazing story crates we have added into the book corner. These help to extend the children’s love for reading, develop speech and language and new vocabulary, promote the children’s imagination and encourage the children to use props to be able to retell a story! The children have absolutely loved these 🥰

Next week we will be continuing to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly 🦋 🐛

Here are a few ideas we think would be lovely to do at home. Some of these require less supplies than others. There is also a wonderful yoga activity to try at home. We have also attached a song we will be singing next week. We are focusing on the makaton signs for caterpillar and butterfly. There are photos of these if the children would like to practise!

If any of the children create any of these or practise any of the songs or signs we would love to see! Please feel free to share images or videos onto tapestry so all of the teachers can see some of the wonderful home learning. 😊 🦋 🐛
