🌟 All About Me 🌟

Our children have been exploring our ‘All About Me’ topic and learning all about what makes each of us unique and special. 🌈

We’ve been celebrating our similarities and differences, talking about our families, our homes and the communities around us. 🏡👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️ Through stories, discussions and creative activities, the children have had lots of opportunities to share what is important to them and learn more about each other.

One of our favourite activities has been creating our very own ‘Marvellous Me’ books! 📚✨ These special books are helping the children to share all the fantastic things that make them them — from their favourite things and interests to the people they love and the places they call home.

It’s been a lovely opportunity to build confidence, develop communication skills and, most importantly, celebrate each and every child for the marvellous individual they are! 🌟💕

🚀🔬 Summer Fun Month – Week 3: Space & Science! 🌙🪐✨

What an out-of-this-world week we’ve had! 🌌 Our Space & Science Week has been packed full of exciting experiences, hands-on learning and plenty of opportunities for our children to get curious, ask questions and explore how things work. 🔎💡

Across all of our rooms, the children have loved discovering more about space, planets, stars and our amazing universe. 🌍🌟 They’ve also enjoyed getting stuck into a variety of fun science experiments, making predictions, observing what happens and sharing their ideas with their friends and grown-ups. 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Through these experiences, the children have been developing so many important skills, including communication and language, problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork and understanding of the world — all while having lots of fun! 💭🗣️🤝

🌞 Summer Fun Month – Week 2! 🎨

Last week was Arts & Crafts Week here at Queenswood Lodge, and the children across all our rooms had so much fun getting creative! 🖌️✨

Our activities were not only lots of fun, but also supported a wide range of learning and development. Through painting, sticking, drawing, cutting and creating, the children were developing their fine motor skills, communication skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration, while also exploring colours, textures and different materials.

🎨 Creative activities also give children the opportunity to express their ideas, make choices and develop their imagination and confidence. We loved seeing each child’s unique personality shine through their creations!

It’s Creative Week at nursery, so we thought there was no better choice for our Sign of the Week than PAINT! 🖌️🎨

🌙✨ Exploring Space in Preschool! ✨🌙

Our preschool children have been getting involved in a range of exciting activities inspired by the solar eclipse and meteor showers! 🚀🌌

There was so much excitement and anticipation as the children prepared to watch the eclipse, which inspired them to create their very own pinhole viewers!

📦🌙 Using cardboard boxes, masking tape and tinfoil, the children enjoyed getting creative and making their viewers while talking about what they might see in the sky.

We also created a sensory tray replicating a magical starry sky, giving the children the opportunity to explore, imagine and talk about space and the wonders of our universe. ⭐️

The children also had great fun creating their own meteors, using different materials and letting their imaginations take them into space! ☄️🚀

🌞🌑 Tomorrow’s Solar Eclipse – Let’s Explore the Sky Safely! 🌑🌞

Tomorrow, we’ll have the exciting opportunity to see a solar eclipse visible across the UK! 🌍✨

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some or all of the Sun’s light for a short time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spark children’s curiosity about space, the Moon, the Sun and our amazing world! 🚀

👀 But most importantly… SAFETY FIRST!
Looking directly at the Sun can cause serious damage to our eyes, even during an eclipse. Please make sure you and your little ones never look directly at the Sun and follow the appropriate safety guidance.

👀☀️ We’ve shared 7 ways to watch a solar eclipse safely in the image below. Please take a moment to look through them and make sure children are supervised and protected if you are watching the eclipse together.

Why not make it a little learning adventure? You could ask your child:
🌙 What do you think an eclipse is?
☀️ Where does the Sun go when it gets darker?
🌍 What do you think the Moon is made of?
⭐ Can you spot anything else in the sky?

🌞 Summer Fun Month! 🌞

✨What a wonderful first week we've had celebrating Storytelling Week! The children have had so much fun exploring some of their favourite stories through a range of exciting activities.📖

Each day has been filled with magical story times, imaginative role play, and plenty of messy play inspired by beloved books including The Gruffalo, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Room on the Broom, Zog and many more favourites. From bringing characters to life through role play to getting creative with sensory and messy activities, the children have loved exploring each story in fun and engaging ways.🌈✨

🎓 Graduation 2026! 🎓

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of celebrating our Preschool Graduation 2026, and what a wonderful afternoon it was!

A huge thank you to our amazing team at Queenswood Lodge for all of their hard work and dedication in making the day so special. Your efforts helped create memories that our children and families will cherish.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. It was lovely to see so many families together, and we hope you all had a fantastic afternoon.

Finally, to our incredible school leavers – thank you for letting us be part of your early years journey. It has been a privilege to watch each and every one of you grow, learn, and flourish during your time with us. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and can't wait to see all that the future holds for you.

No matter where your next adventure takes you, Queenswood Lodge will always be where your journey began. 💙✨
