This week, the children had lots of fun exploring their surroundings and nature outside the nursery.
Together, they searched for and collected a variety of leaves, sticks, twigs and feathers. They took part in lots of running races and different ball games such as football, to keep them active. Some of the children were brave enough to carefully climb the trees to create a bridge for their friends to travel under. The children also used different crayons and chalks to create their own mark making as they printed out the patterns of trees.

The children were very excited to visit the local park today!

The children took turns climbing on the frames, going down the slides and even helped pushing each other on the swings. They enjoyed zooming around the roundabout and jumping up and down on the seesaw. Lots of smiles and laughter was shared today!

As the term comes to a close, some of our children prepare for their next adventure - starting school! 📚
Last week the children graduated nursery, celebrating all their achievements in the time that they have spent with us. We held a lovely ceremony in the garden where the children were presented with a certificate and gift bag .
The parents were then able to spend time with their child exploring the activities we set up in the garden.

Today we have been trying some of Rachel's home grown gooseberrys and homemade strawberry and Apple jam. We spoke about how the gooseberrys are grown and what they need to grow. The children then spread the jam on their crackers and enjoyed tucking into them asking for more!

Rachel then made mini fruit crumbles using the goosberrys, with help from the children squashing and mixing them talking about how they felt squishy and soft. The children then made the crumble topping using flour, sugar and butter talking about the ingredients and the textures of each one before scooping it into their own cake case.

Over the last couple weeks the children have taken part in lots of exciting activities in the butterfly room.

This has included making fruit smoothie's and banana muffins. The children independently chopped up their fruit, carefully poured and scooped ingredients into the containers and mixed them all together using their turn taking skills. The children were very excited to try their smoothie and muffins at snack time!

The children have also explored shaving foam and food colouring within the garden. They mixed various colours together using their hands which created lots of messy fun. The children described the shaving foam texture as "soft, gluey and smooth". They rubbed the shaving foam on their chins and they said "we look like Santa".

We have had lots of fun this week in the caterpillar room, the children had truly enjoyed themselves. This week we have done a lot of sensory play from squishing the play dough to making marks with different resources in the messy tray. The children have loved pouring and sprinkling cereal and rolling balls through glittery shaving foam.
We have also spent a lot of time in the garden exploring the new toys we have and navigating the slide and the rocking horse. In the garden we also done some planting with the children, who helped fill the plant pots up with soil and plant the seeds. Today we joined the butterflies in the butterfly garden to take part in the sensory walk which some children loved but others were a little unsure. They walked through different obstacles with a variety of ingredients such as baked beans, flour and Angel delight.

To celebrate the Queens 70th jubilee, we have been enjoying lots of different activities this week. We have explored a colourful tuff tray including the colours of the Union Jack where we identified the colours,textures and objects in the tray, we each made our very own triangle for some bunting and enjoyed making and decorating our very own crowns which we wore during our kings and queens lunchtime garden party. We finally weighed out and mixed ingredients making our own jubilee cupcakes.
