The Cam Sailing Club based at Waterbeach, just a few miles north of the centre of Cambridge, has much to offer families who want to 'get away from it all' at weekends. Sailing tuition, regular competitions and a clubhouse that offers great facilities and regular social events aimed at the whole family, can make family membership an affordable pleasure. Accessible by public transport as Waterbeach

station is close by and with camping facilities on site, membership of the CSC is well worth considering to get the whole family out in the fresh air and involved in a pleasurable pastime that involves everyone, whether sailors or not.

One of our members, Geoff, caught these great shots of the last of the swallow babies earlier this week. We will be sad to see our summer visitors leave, it’s wonderful seeing them swooping over the river 😍

Wednesday evening social sailing combined with eclipse watching! Some amazing shadows on sails from the trees. Lovely to see everyone and thanks to those sharing eclipse glasses and colanders and boxes…!

The junior shed has now even greater improvements- electricity! ⚡️ This proved useful for fans during a very hot oppie week. The improvements to the shed are to encourage our juniors to make more use of the space, and also help with training provision too.

Some of our members were spotted on a trip downstream near St Ives earlier in the week. Great to see these boats being so admired!

We had a fantastic oppie training week with more than 40 junior sailors taking part. Here are some photos from our lead instructor, John. A big thank you to him and everyone else who made the week such a success 👏 We look forward to seeing all the young people back on the water and continuing to grow in confidence!

This week 40+ sailors took part in Oppie week. Thank you to all of the instructors, trainers and parents supporting this. The feedback from the children was fantastic, more photos to come but here is one from this morning.

A good group of our juniors were at the Cambridgeshire Youth League event at Ely today. Cam sailors won prizes for youngest competitor, 1st under 12, and 2nd under 15. Well done to all of them! 👏

Wednesday Evening Leisure Sailing

17:30 Wednesday 1st July

The next Wednesday Evening Leisure Sailing is on Wednesday starting at 17:30. It looks as if it is going to be a lovely evening with a gentle wind - and a bit cooler than it has been recently

Come along and give it a go. There will be help around if you want to take out one of the Club dinghies - or maybe hitch a ride on one of the river cruisers or half deckers.

After the sailing we will be lighting the BBQ for a sausage in a bun and a cold drink.
