There are 1 or 2 spaces left for the next "Harbour Guitars" club on Tuesday 1st September. See details below and get in touch to book your space. We had a fabulous time at the 2nd "Harbour Guitars" Club last week. We learnt an Oasis song and fingerpicking techniques on "Everybody Hurts" by REM, We have also been learning songs by Fleetwood Mac and The Bangles.

More details about Harbour Guitars:
“Harbour Guitars” runs from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Watchet Visitors Centre/Boat Museum on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. This is a learning space for people to develop their guitar playing skills in a supportive group led by myself. You can book for the next 5 sessions for £40.00 or if you want to book ad hoc sessions this will cost £10 per session.
The sessions will build confidence in your playing, keep you motivated to practice and also improve your general musical skills. The sessions will be based around songs and will help you to get to know your instrument through playing chords, riffs and melodies, strumming and picking techniques and some singing too. This group is for adults aged 19 upwards and is a learning space and is *not* intended to be a performance club, jam session or acoustic night. It is aimed at those who can already play a few basic chords.

There are 2 places available for tomorrow's "Harbour Guitars" learning session at Watchet Visitors Centre (Tuesday 18th Aug, 7pm to 8:30pm). We will be learning a couple of songs, new chords and hopefully some finger picking! Please get in touch for more info and to book your place. Also, below is a link to "The Guitar Story" on BBC Sounds which follows the journey of guitar construction, playing styles and its place in popular culture. For me, the guitar has always been the "instrument of the people", fairly cheap to buy (compared to other instruments). Just a few basic chords are required to play a vast range of songs and yet mastering the guitar can take a lifetime! From classical to folk, pop, funk and jazz, the guitar covers all genres and brings together a diverse range of people and I love it! I offer 1 to 1 and group lessons from age 6 upwards. You can see some wonderful reviews here on my page and on my Google page "Quantock Guitar Tuition".

John Wilson explores the story of the guitar as a driver of social and cultural change.

**New Guitar Club!** Are you learning guitar and live in Watchet or the surrounding area? Would you like to learn to play guitar with others in a welcoming group setting? I am starting a guitar club called “Harbour Guitars” and the main aim will be to provide a social atmosphere and for you to learn together as a group. The sessions will build confidence in your playing, keep you motivated to practice and also improve your general musical skills. Please get in touch ASAP if you are interested, as I want to find the right size venue for this group on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of each month (hopefully to start in August). Please share this post with any guitarists you know in the Watchet area.

Last year I taught on a residential guitar course and realised how much the students gained from learning and playing with others and how much enjoyment they got from sharing their experiences. I would like to bring this opportunity to the budding guitarists of Watchet!

The sessions will be based around songs and will help you to get to know your instrument through playing chords, riffs and melodies, strumming and picking techniques and some singing too. I have been teaching guitar, usually 1 to 1, for many years and I’m a classically trained guitarist, have a music degree and am very experienced in playing live and recording pop, jazz, Latin, disco, soul, funk, fingerstyle, solo guitar etc and I am a member of several gigging bands. I am DBS checked and a member of the ISM (Independent Society of Musicians). This group would be for adults aged 19 upwards and is a learning space and is *not* intended to be a performance club, jam session or acoustic night. It is primarily for guitar but could include bass guitar and ukulele too. It is aimed at those who can already play a few basic chords. I expect the cost of each session to be between £5 and £7 per person, depending on the cost of hiring the venue/printing etc. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Playing the guitar is great fun and you get to learn new skills and play the music you love. But also, learning to play a musical instrument creates a sense of achievement, builds confidence and increases self motivation - which are all great life skills! I’ve been teaching adults and children for over 10 years now and have over 40 years of guitar playing experience.

See the fabulous reviews on my page: Mickie Ritchie - Quantock Guitar Tuition on my Google page: Quantock Guitar Tuition and my website: https://quantockguitartuition.wordpress.com/about/
