🌟 YEAR 10 PARENTS 🌟

It's the end of the year, mock results are filtering through — and so is the realisation that things aren't quite going to plan. That gap between where they are now and where they need to be can feel a bit too wide.

We are excited to share a fantastic opportunity that could make a real difference to the young people you support or work with across Somerset. 💙💚 The STAR Fund, delivered by Young Somerset, helps vulnerable and disadvantaged young people aged 0–25 access life-enhancing activities in arts, sport and recreation — opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach due to financial or social barriers. STAR funding (up to £500 per child) can help cover the costs of things like:

➡️ Music lessons or instrument purchase
➡️ Creative workshops and art materials
➡️ Sports club fees, gym memberships or swimming lessons - this includes purchasing kit as well
➡️ Drama groups, dance classes and enrichment activities

We also support groups that provide opportunities to young people. These aren’t just hobbies — they’re confidence-builders. They help young people develop new skills, improve wellbeing, build friendships and discover passions that can shape their future.

Who can apply?

Applications must be submitted by a professional (such as a teacher, youth worker, support worker or similar). Funding must be agreed in advance, as the fund does not reimburse costs retrospectively.

If you’re working with a young person who could benefit, please consider applying — or share this opportunity with colleagues and partners who might. A small grant can open the door to something truly transformative.
