We're celebrating our best ever GCSE results!🤩

This morning our school was full of smiling faces as we celebrated record-breaking attainment and many outstanding individual success stories. This is a truly exceptional year for our school community.

The Class of 2026 achieved the highest Attainment 8 score* in the school's history, reaching an impressive 48.2. This superb achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, the support of their families, and our shared commitment to excellence.

There was strong achievement across the board, with 72% of students achieving a Grade 4 or above in both English and maths, while 25% of grades awarded for English and maths were Grade 7 or above. Alongside these impressive school outcomes, there were many individual success stories to celebrate, including:

👏 Leoni, who achieved an outstanding eight Grade 9s, placing her among the highest performing students in the country.
👏 Tyler and Jamie, who both secured five Grade 9s and three Grade 8s, demonstrating exceptional achievement and consistency across a broad range of subjects.

Kate Morris, our Headteacher, said:
"These results reflect the ambition, resilience and dedication of our students, supported by the unwavering commitment of our staff and families. Achieving our highest-ever Attainment 8 score, alongside such strong outcomes in English and mathematics, is a tremendous achievement and a source of great pride for our entire school community.

We are committed to ensuring that every young person leaves Biddick Academy with the qualifications, confidence and character they need to succeed. It is particularly pleasing to see our students progressing on to ambitious and appropriate next steps, including sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeships across the region. These results demonstrate what can be achieved when high expectations are matched by hard work, determination and excellent support."

*Attainment 8 is the Government's measure of overall GCSE performance across a student's best eight qualifications

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded an incredible £675,000 by a local charitable foundation to transform our science facilities.🤩

Thanks to this generous investment, six of our laboratories and one science classroom are being completely refurbished. The overhaul will provide improved layouts, refreshed facilities and inspiring learning environments so that students can enjoy a rich, engaging science curriculum. We hope that the makeover will help students to enhance their practical science skills and develop a lifelong love of science.

Work is already underway and is due to be completed by the end of September. This is a hugely exciting step forward for our school and we can't wait to share the finished results with you! Watch this space…

Yesterday a group of students represented our school brilliantly at Gateshead International Stadium in the North East Learning Trust Athletics Festival 2026!🤩

As the sun shone, so did Team Biddick! Our students put in some great performances against other Trust schools and came away with medals for individual performances in track and field events. It was a brilliant day with lots of memories and friendships made.⭐

On Friday, a group of students represented our school brilliantly at the annual North East Learning Trust Debate Competition, against eight other Trust secondary schools.

Team Biddick debated the question 'should university be free for the top 10% of grade earners?' and questioned Rye Hills Academy on their topic on zoos and animal conservation.

The team put in a great performance and Marco wowed the judges so much that he came away with a trophy for Best Speaker! A huge congratulations everyone!👏
