She will run 500 miles and he will run 500 more!!!

Just like the Proclaimers (except these two will be running not walking), Vicky and Gavin have set themselves a huge challenge in aid of raising funds for school.

Starting from January 1st and running right through until the last day of the academic year (July 20th) they will be running a total of 500 miles each which equates to an average of 2.5 miles per day! So far they are a little behind their target with around 150miles on the clock so far. They have made a great start but still have a long way to go.

If you would like to support their efforts, they are attempting to match their miles in pounds and raise a total of £1000 by July 20th. Donations can be made following the link below with any donations being greatly appreciated.

Yesterday's SSFC man of the match prize went to Lewis Alessandra! 🏆

He was presented with his award on behalf of sponsors David and Julia Arkley by Alexander Walker, an inspirational young man who recently completed The Great Rickshaw Relay Challenge.

Dear Parents and Carers,
John would like to invite you all into school for a meeting on transport into school and school start/ finish times. This follows a meeting with transport providers and the local authority.

This meeting is essentially information sharing and also a consultation upon the exact timings of the school day. We are confident that the outcomes will be:
-better understanding of arrangements
-safer processes
-less learning time lost

Agenda:
1, concerns gathered from families and carers
2, outcomes of the meeting with Transport providers and commissioners- constraints on services (staffing; timings); protocol for pick up/ drop off at home; protocols for what to do when things go wrong
3, school timings

The meetings are Friday 23rd September 2022 10 am and Monday 26th September 2022 5pm.
Parents and carers do not have to book, please feel free to arrive at the designated times

25/08/2022

From the start of the new school year, 5th September 2022 our aim is to get all children into school ready to start learning by 9:15a.m.

To ensure this happens the school doors will open at 8:45. As usual buses will take priority, with parents being able to drop children off alongside the buses.

Please ensure your child is dropped off no later than 9:10a.m.

If your child uses home to school transport your provider will be in touch before the start of the new term with pick up times for your child.

Arrangements for the end of the school day will remain unchanged, doors will open at 3:15p.m. with parents/cars taking priority followed by buses.

We ask all parents to have arrived to collect children no later than 3:30p.m.

Thank you in advance for your continued co-operation - Berny

For any additional transport information contact Paul Tomlin on 0191 561 2284

Just a reminder that our head teacher and his friends will be doing the coast to coast this weekend. This is how he describes it...

"We are two overweight middle aged men who would both like to do a little towards the funding of the VR room in our spare time. We both have longstanding links to people with additional needs and we would love to further benefit the children of Columbia Grange. On the 9th July, we will be riding our push bikes from Bowness on Solway (West Coast) to Roker Beach (East Coast) and we intend to complete it in one day. We will be departing as early as we can struggle out of bed on the Saturday. The route will follow sections of Hadrian's Way. We are paying for our own accomodation and food in Cumbria and all food en route.
We have around 90 miles and a 2800 foot climb to get through. We appreciate every single penny donated and every share."

Virtual Reality in Education...
"The most important advantage of VR is that it induces enhanced learning achievement. Using VR, education and training can:
• bring students closer to experience in real life, it will introduce them to difficult concepts that are more easily explained through immersive experiences rather than lectures in traditional teaching methods.
• Make educational institutions more focused on improving levels of learning for students rather than grades.
• create a positive learning environment directed for learners’ needs.
• enjoy / experience high-risk environments with no risks at all.
• allow the children to participate in an education environment when they cannot do it another way. It surpasses language barriers."

Weʼre raising money to Towards funding a fully immersive sensory room. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.
