Not every child learns the same way, and not every child settles the same way either. Some need quiet. Some need routine. Some need something completely different to feel ready to take anything in.

One of my students, usually so bubbly and quick with a laugh, went quiet on me recently. It took a while to find out why. Her family had booked a holiday, something most kids would love, but for her it meant a new place, a broken routine, and meeting people she didn't know. That thought alone was enough to overwhelm her.

It's a good reminder that what feels exciting to one child can feel like too much for another, and that goes for the classroom too. At Education Selection Box, we start by understanding how a young person actually learns and what helps them feel settled, before we even get to the subject itself.
