Which ones are your favourite?
What's your favourite way to use building blocks for learning?
Building a session around children’s interests is so much fun to plan. Seeing the excitement in their eyes and the curiosity that grows out of it is truly the heart of why we do what we do. When we let their passions lead the way, "learning" stops being a task and starts being an adventure. Whether it’s dinosaurs, space, or just how many blocks it takes to reach the ceiling, these moments of pure engagement are where the magic happens! ✨
Why Interest-Led Learning Wins:
🔅Deep Engagement: Children stay focused longer when they care about the subject.
🔅Natural Discovery: Curiosity leads to organic problem-solving and critical thinking.
🔅Confidence Boost: It shows them that their ideas and voices have value.

Being a teacher is a whirlwind. When you have 30 children to guide, school policies to follow, and behavior to manage, your brain is constantly "on." And don't get me wrong—I love it. There is nothing quite like the magic of a lesson clicking or the bond you build with a full class. 🏫🙌
But since I started tutoring, I’ve noticed a powerful shift in my perspective.
In a small group setting, the "frame" disappears. I no longer feel the need to apply a one-size-fits-all approach. I’ve learned to embrace the detour. 🔄
I used to feel frustrated if a task didn’t go exactly as planned, viewing it as a personal failure. Not anymore.
Recently, my little one refused to use traditional flashcards to check their phonics sounds. Instead of pushing the "plan," we pivoted. We leaned into their love of dinosaurs.
We wrote out all the sounds we’ve covered.
Then he "hunted" and circled them as they read.
The result? Pure joy and 100% engagement.
Tutoring has taught me that "perfection" isn't following the lesson plan—it's meeting the child exactly where they are.
Sometimes, you have to throw out the flashcards and bring in the dinosaurs. And honestly? We loved every second of it! 🌟✍️
