Big news for the entire WCG community! 🎖️

We are proud to announce that WCG has officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) and received the Bronze Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme!

What does this mean for us? This pledge brings meaningful support, fair treatment, and new opportunities for all staff across our five campuses - including our serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families.

🧫 Science meets art in the Animal Management lab! 🧬

Our Level 3 Animal Management students have been getting creative in their Animal Health and Diseases module. To dive deep into pathogen structure and function, they stepped away from the textbooks and built these detailed 3D models of bacteria and viruses. 🎨🦠

From viral capsids and envelope proteins to bacterial cell walls and flagella, these hands-on creations bring microscopic structures to life. Understanding how these organisms operate on a cellular level is a crucial step toward mastering disease prevention, biosecurity, and animal welfare in clinical and outdoor settings. 🐶🐎🐍

Our Level 1/2 First Award in Animal Care students have been busy putting their practical skills to the test:
• Preparing daily feeds for our tortoises 🐢
• Refreshing enclosures and clearing brambles for the stick insects 🍃

Today's ignite activity was a retrieval task: Make the horse's skeleton as accurately as you can from pasta. As the images show, there were lots of good skeletons on show. Soon after an image of the equine skeleton was shown to learners so they could assess their own work.
