The weather may have been erratic lately but it seems to be helping our garden grow. We have all kinds of vegetables - peas, beans and sunflowers in our ‘tall garden’, tomatoes, cucumbers and even pumpkins, as well as herbs and wild flowers. We’ve even got beans growing inside. It looks beautiful and is great for learning about growth, life cycles, measuring and caring for the environment

Hurrah! The children were so excited to see our new climbing frame finished and ready to use. Now we just need the weather to stay dry. We always make great use of our beautiful garden space with lots of opportunities for physical play, problem-solving and investigating, exploring nature and, of course, helping to look after our guinea pigs, but there is no doubt that the new climbing frame will be a favourite in the coming days.

We had a very successful ‘Green Day’ - reading the book My Green Day to promote discussions about caring for the environment, celebrating with our nature crowns and some very green biscuits, and doing lots of planting of sunflower seeds ( to nurture at home) and vegetables in our raised beds.

Lots of excitement from the children this week as they explored the new learning areas created by our hardworking staff. Our castle inspired lots of fairytale role play, as we recalled traditional tales and began to learn a less familiar nursery rhyme - Sing a song of sixpence, which led to a hunt for the ‘lost’ blackbirds in the garden. All sorts of other activities too - caterpillars, spiders, and other minibeasts.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to nursery tomorrow. This staff have all been busy creating new areas to engage the children in play and learning - both inside nursery and in the garden. The photos are a little hint of things to come…………..

It’s been an exciting (or ‘egg-citing’!) week with all 10 of our eggs hatching. The children loved watching the process, hearing the chicks cheep and watching them become fluffy and active. We asked the children to suggest names for the chicks, and these were picked - Rolly, Steve, Princess, Huey, Brecky Butterfly, PoPo, Lenny, Romeo, Tap Tap and Buster!

Happy Mothers’ Day to everyone! The sun has been shining and we are thinking about Spring at last! We printed cards for our mummies after looking at the blossom growing in the nursery garden, and planted a nasturtium seed to grow at home. We’ve also planted amaryllis bulbs to grow at nursery and are already measuring their progress. We are looking ahead to Easter too - scroll through the images to our Easter song sheet so you can sing along at home.
