I offer the option for students to come to tutoring with a friend — a great way to make GCSE English feel less daunting, more enjoyable and a little more sociable.

Working alongside a friend can encourage students to:
• share ideas and approaches
• explain their thinking to each other
• learn from different perspectives

It also makes tutoring more affordable at £40 per student.

It’s important that both students are studying the same texts so if your child and their friend want to pair up and study for their GCSEs, why not consider this option?

I was fully booked for September 1:1 sessions in May this year. I did NOT need to advertise those sessions as I had a waiting list. I am being contacted DAILY by parents asking for tuition and have an extensive waiting list for this year.

Students who start with me in year 10 are guaranteed a place with me in year 11. You are investing in your chosen tutor for 2 years - make sure you pick the right one!

Being on a waiting list costs you nothing. I will contact you next May to see if you want to reserve a session for your child.

‘Jack of all trades, master of none’

This is an idiom in the English language, referring to a person who has basic skills in a number of areas, rather than expertise in one specific area.

Why am I posting this?

Because I see tutors offering GCSE and A Level tuition in multiple/diverse subjects. If you teach GCSE or A Level, it is a requirement that you are a subject specialist. You also need to be a graduate.

And that is why my focus is on GCSE and A Level. That is where my mastery lies. I am NOT a ‘jack of all trades’. You can rest assured that I know GCSE / A Level English Language and Literature like the back of my hand.

Over 3 decades in teaching makes me an expert.
Few people can equal my experience or qualifications.

You are paying for the best.

This ONE simple trick will take you from a Grade 5 to a Grade 9 👇

I keep seeing these claims and lies like them to create engagement. These people are unscrupulous and disingenuous - in other words they want your ‘likes’ and your money but are giving you NOTHING in return.

If using one phrase in your exam would turn your response into a Grade 9, don’t you think that
a) your English teacher might have mentioned it to you?
b) it would be common knowledge?
And
c) everyone would be getting Grade 9s?

Please don’t fall for these marketing ploys. Even if the claims are said with conviction and slick marketing, it still doesn’t make them true.

If it sounds too good to be true…it usually is.
