Day 3 of the year 6 residential and after two days of non-stop adventure, something rather unexpected happened this morning... the children slept in!!! In fact, we had to wake them up at 7am!
Although energy levels were perhaps a little lower than on days one and two, there was still plenty of adventure to be had. We started with a breakfast of champions – pancakes and syrup – before packing up our rooms and getting all our belongings ready for the journey home later in the day.
We then split into three groups to tackle the final set of activities: tree climbing, the zip wire, the giant’s ladder and crate stack. The children showed fantastic determination, courage and teamwork, encouraging one another every step of the way. We stopped for lunch in between activities to refuel before one last push to the finish line.
Before we knew it, it was time to head home. The bus journey was a very different experience from the journey there – a very, very quiet one! With tired bodies and lots of happy memories, many of our Year 6 children spent the journey fast asleep.
As staff, we can honestly say how incredibly proud and humbled we are by how brilliant the children have been throughout the residential. They have been an absolute credit to the school, and their grown-ups should be so proud of them. They have approached every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and ambition, supported one another brilliantly, and represented our school exceptionally well.
What a fantastic residential it has been. We are so lucky to work with such kind, resilient and ambitious learners.
