SJC Consultancy continues to grow and expand its services available to all schools throughout the UK.

SJC is expanding its bank of Independent Panel members for the following:

School Appeals
Independent Review Panel (IRP)

As an Independent Panel member, you will play an important role in helping schools, trusts and local authorities ensure that key decisions are reviewed fairly, consistently and in the best interests of children and young people.

SJC is looking for the following:

Parents

Governors of maintained schools, academies, multi academy trusts (MAT’s)

Headteachers, currently post or within the last 5 years

Meetings are arranged to be held face to face and by remote meetings utilising Microsoft Teams or similar systems.

SJC can offer training for those who currently have not attended the mandatory training.

This is a voluntary role but there are allowances for out of pocket “expenses”

Primary School National Offer Day takes place on Thursday 16 April 2026.
This applies to children starting Reception in September 2026.
If you’ve applied to a school and it does not offer your child a place, you have the right to appeal this decision.
The law limits the size of an infant class (reception and years 1 and 2) to a maximum of 30 pupils per teacher (there are exceptions to this rule for certain limited categories of children). If the school refuses your child a place because admitting them would breach this limit then your appeal will be an infant class size appeal. This is different from all other school admission appeals.
