We arrived at nursery today to find a very special surprise 🐸

We have got our first animal in our rock pool the children made last week, It's a dwarf African clawed toad.

We have been thinking of names all morning for him but we are struggling to pick just one.

We would love you to help us pick out one of the names our children chose, We will pick a winner on Friday.

We have had so much fun this week exploring what a rock pool consists of!

Using our gross motor skills, we worked together with spades and rakes to move the sand around and make sure the bottom of our tank was covered. Along the way, we learned and used new vocabulary such as scoop, sprinkle, and pour.

We used our problem-solving skills to think about the different sizes of the shells and carefully placed them in the perfect spots to create homes for our new friends. We also arranged our plants in size order, and the children shared their ideas that the snails and fish might hide among them when they arrive.

Working as a team, we poured water into the tank and made predictions about how many bowls it would take to fill it. The children predicted it would take 10 bowls, but after counting carefully, we discovered it only took 4 bowls! This was a great opportunity to develop our counting skills and compare our predictions with the actual result.

We cannot wait to see which creatures arrive in our rock pool. The children are excited to watch them grow, learn about their habitats, and discover what they eat.

Yesterday the ladies from the Oral Health Team came to visit the boys and girls to observe us taking part in our All Together Smiling Tooth brushing programme.

First they shown us how to brush our teeth and their puppet also demonstrated this to us all.

Next we had an educational chat about healthy and unhealthy foods and drinks. We learnt about how much sugars are in different foods.

We really enjoyed the visit and want to send a big thank you to the ladies at the Oral Health Team.

Please join us in Congratulation Keira for receiving Staff Member of the Month

Keira has been settling in our new babies and has been wonderful in supporting them all to feel secure in their new environment and has built lovely relationships with them all, ensuring they all have a strong emotional bond.

Keira has also been developing her knowledge and researching new and exciting idea's for the children to learn and develop from and implementing these into her daily planning, keeping the children's learning environment new and exciting with plenty of learning opportunities, for curious little minds.

Did you know that its National Biscuit Day today?

Our children do as they have been mixing and weighing ingredients and baking their very own biscuits.

We made star shaped biscuits this morning and we were so busy learning that we forgot to take pictures of the process, but here are some of our finished products and some more of us creating playdough biscuits whilst outside this afternoon too.

Our Toddlers have been having lots of sensory fun learning about farm animals and their natural habitats. They have had lots of giggles exploring farm animal puppets, making animal sounds, and singing 'Old MacDonald had a Farm.' These activities supports the Toddlers listening and attention skills as well developing their spoken language.

Sharing these musical and exploratory moments has been wonderful for building positive relationships and developing early friendships during their together time.

They have also engaged in cooling-down water play, which helps develop gross and fine motor control. Splashing and grabbing at water sea creatures is perfect for developing their hand-eye co-ordination. By learning about where farm animals and sea creatures live, children are beginning to make sense of their physical world and the community in which they live.
