πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Schematic play at Holyrood Nursery Warrington πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

What is a schema? A schema is a repeated pattern of play that children use to explore, test, and figure out how the world works!

Today we focused on the orientation schema. But what does this mean? The orientation schema is a pattern of play where children explore how their bodies, objects such as toys, and surroundings look and feel from different angles and positions.

There are lots of activities you can do to help support this schema at home too! Such as...

● Yoga
● Upside down drawing
● Cloud watching
● Using magnifying glasses and many, many more!

πŸ‚ Come join our toddlers as we explore our new focus book The Leaf Theif πŸ‚

Our toddlers have had lots of fun using their senses to explore the leaf theif play dough, we used our noses to smell the differnt scents of the play dough, we used our hands to build upon our fine motor skills rolling and pinching the dough, we used our eyes to see all the different colours of the leaves and animals in the book and we used our ears to hear the sounds of the wind and the rustles of the leaves. Well done toddlers!

Our Focus Book: The Lion Inside 🦁
This month, our focus book is The Lion Inside. To introduce this lovely story to our new preschool children, we first enjoyed reading the book together and talking about its message.

The story helps our new children understand that moving into a new room doesn’t have to be scary. It encourages us to be brave, have courage and believe in ourselves, even when we might feel a little nervous about something new.

To bring the story to life, we then headed to our cookery class, where the children had lots of fun creating their very own lions! 🦁 We used a variety of different ingredients to design and make our own yummy, edible lions.

It was a wonderful way to explore the story through creativity, cooking and, of course, a little bit of bravery!
