💙 Raising Awareness for Men’s Mental Health Awareness Week 💙

Since Monday, Mr Guatella has taken on an incredible challenge — for seven days, 24 hours a day, he will be attached to and carrying a 20lb weight plate to raise awareness of men’s mental health.

The weight is a symbol of the invisible burdens that many people carry every day — stress, anxiety, loneliness, grief, and struggles that can often go unseen by others.

This challenge is deeply personal for Mr Guatella. After serving in the Armed Forces, he was diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) in 2014 and has experienced first-hand the impact that mental health difficulties can have.

By sharing his story and taking on this challenge, Mr Guatella hopes to encourage conversations, break down stigma, and remind our students and wider community that seeking support is a sign of strength, courage, and self-awareness.

We hope this challenge helps our students understand that mental health struggles are real, but they do not have to stop anyone from achieving their ambitions. With support, resilience, and the willingness to keep moving forward, challenges can be overcome.

A huge well done to Mr Guatella for using his own experience to raise awareness and encourage important conversations across our school community. 💙

We’re incredibly proud to be supporting one of our Year 10 families as a very special fundraising challenge gets underway this June.

Over 800 miles. 7 days. One incredible journey. 🌍

Three dedicated supporters of the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation are taking on the ultimate cycling challenge — riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats in just seven days! 🚴‍♂️

Starting on 27th June, the team will face long days, tough climbs and an incredible test of determination as they travel from Cornwall all the way to Scotland, raising money to support local people across Warrington. 👏

They have already raised thousands through previous rides and events, and this challenge is their biggest yet!

There’s also a chance for everyone to get involved through the Steps Challenge this weekend 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ — helping to raise money towards the same cause while taking part in the training journey alongside the riders. Plus, there are prizes for those who clock up the most steps! 🏆

We are delighted to announce that this year’s annual school production will be ✨ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ✨!

Get ready for a spectacular journey into W***y Wonka’s magical world, with fantastic characters, unforgettable moments, music, and plenty of imagination. 🌟

Auditions are now open, and we can’t wait to see the amazing talent across our students!

📚 Audition packs are available in the Files section of students’ Music and Drama classes on Microsoft Teams. Students should use the pack to prepare their audition pieces.

🌍👏Year 12 Support the Miracle Million Meal Project👏🌍

Massive congratulations to the 45 amazing students in Year 12 at Barrow Hall College who gave up their free time today to support the Miracle Million Meal Project alongside Feed the Hungry. 👏

Together, they have packed 5,000 meals to send to Zimbabwe. An incredible effort, heaps of fun, and we are immensely proud of everyone involved! 🌍🥣✨

🎭🎶 A truly unforgettable experience for our School Orchestra! 🎶🎭

Yesterday, our talented musicians had the incredible opportunity to perform on the iconic stage of the Liverpool Empire Theatre — one of Europe’s largest two-tier theatres, with a capacity of 2,350 people. 🌟

Since the start of the year, our orchestra has been working alongside composer Cameron Lythgoe to create six contrasting musical virtues inspired by Beauty Personified — love, generosity, eloquence, passion, vitality and purity — as part of the English National Ballet school programme accompanying Sleeping Beauty. 🩰✨

As the only school performing live music, this was a huge privilege and a fantastic achievement for our students. Opening the entire show, they performed Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Overture before seamlessly moving into their own original compositions — pieces they had written themselves and performed with incredible skill and confidence! 🎻👏

A special mention must go to Jessie in Year 8, who performed a beautiful viola solo to accompany the performance from JMU. She showed incredible composure and had nerves of steel — we are incredibly proud of her! 💜

After their sound check, students enjoyed exploring Liverpool with a visit to the Cavern Club and a wander around the Albert Dock.

An amazing day filled with creativity, performance and memories that will stay with our students for a lifetime. 🌍🎼

Great Sankey High School is undertaking a once-in-a-lifetime school trip 🇦🇺, taking 30 trailblazing students to Sydney for the first time the school has ever visited Australia.

The focus of the two-week trip is rugby league 🏉. Students will train at and tour NRL club facilities, attend live NRL fixtures, and play competitive matches against local opposition around Sydney.

Students will also visit some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks, including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Blue Mountains, Taronga Zoo, and a range of famous beaches from Coogee to Bondi 🏖️.

Finally, the students, currently in Years 8 & 9, will have the opportunity to experience modern Australian culture as well as take part in an Aboriginal Australian education session.

Staff and students will take part in a 12-month fundraising journey before departing for Australia in July 2027. During this time, they will develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and enterprise as they aim to raise £22,500 to enhance this incredible experience. Funds raised will go towards playing kit and travel wear, non-included meals and drinks, transport within the UK, equipment to use in Australia, and more.

Donations of any amount towards our goal are greatly appreciated and will significantly support students on this unforgettable adventure 🙌.

There are also opportunities for local companies and organisations to ‘join the team’ and support the fundraising by becoming sponsors of the playing and travel kit. Limited sponsorship opportunities are available, ranging from £300–£2,000. In return, sponsors will receive media coverage in the UK and Australia, social media promotion, invitations to future fundraising events, and a vote on the GSHS Australia 2027 playing kit design featuring their logo.

What a fantastic achievement for our Year 7 team! 👏⚽

They travelled to Liverpool FC to compete in a 7-a-side tournament against strong schools from across Warrington, and produced an outstanding performance from start to finish.

After an impressive group stage, the team topped their group and carried that momentum all the way through to the final. In a tense and exciting finish, they held their nerve to win on penalties and secure the tournament victory! 🏆

A brilliant day of football and a result they should be very proud of.
