A great relationship - and a shared commitment to better music education

At the recent Music & Drama Education Expo, Presto Director David Jones sat down with Mark Crawford, Head of Key Accounts and Customer Support at RSL Awards, to talk about our long-standing relationship with RSL and the work we’re doing together to support music education.

They talked about Rhythm Warriors and the different ways it can be used - in our own lessons, in primary schools and through its multimedia resources. It gives teachers different ways to engage students, get them playing together and build strong musical foundations, with a pathway into RSL Rockschool examinations as they progress.

They also discussed The Dynamic Music Teacher, our teacher training work and how the ideas and systems we’ve developed at Presto are now helping teachers well beyond our own classrooms.

Through our work with organisations including RSL Awards and Alfred Music, we’re helping to share better approaches to music teaching with educators around the world - supporting teachers with the training, resources and practical tools they need to help more students succeed.

That’s what makes partnerships like this so valuable. It’s not simply about exams or resources - it’s about finding better ways to teach music and making quality music education accessible to more students and teachers.

Sometimes, you don’t play music to perform. You play it to switch off.

For Liv, sitting down at the piano is one of the ways she relaxes.

No audience. No pressure. No need to get everything perfect. Just playing.

Music can be a brilliant way to step away from everything else that’s going on - focusing on the notes, getting lost in a song and giving your mind something completely different to concentrate on.

And that’s another reason we love teaching music.

Yes, students develop skills, confidence and musicianship. But music can also become something they turn to for themselves - a creative outlet, a way to unwind and something they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.

In this short interview, Liv talks to David about what playing an instrument means to her and how music helps her de-stress.

Sometimes the best reason to play is simply because it makes you feel better.

£13,000 raised for PAPYRUS.

We’re honestly struggling to find the words.

The Will Ogden Memorial Rugby Tournament has raised an incredible £13,000 for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de, and we are completely blown away by the generosity, kindness and support of everyone who made the day possible.

To everyone who played in the tournament, performed on our drum and keyboard stage, helped, donated, supported, gave their time, turned up and stood alongside us, thank you. Truly.

There are so many people who made this event what it was, and we’ll be sharing some of the stories and moments from the day over the coming days.

For now, we simply want to say thank you.

How long does it take to learn a real pop song?

Apparently… about a minute or two. 😂

David and Lexie were showing some of the youngsters at Padgate Food and Craft Festival just how quickly you can get stuck into a real song at the weekend.

Obviously, a full lesson gives you a little more time to learn, practise and properly get to grips with it, but the point is simple: learning music should be fun, practical and something you actually want to play.
