We began the morning digging for treasure 🪙, painting with blackberry paint 🫟 and reading stories 📚 After snack, we wandered to the woods and set up for the day 😀 One of our friends kindly brought in a book about emergency service vehicles and this led to lots of imaginative play. We had ambulances, police cars and fire 🔥🚒 engines dealing with emergencies all over the woods! 😁 A den became a house 🏠 which had lots of features added.......a door and a stick floor! We ended a lovely day, chatting with new and old friends on our walk back 😊

Today we started off at the hut where we welcomed new friends, played under the conker tree and discovered treasures in the soil.
Snack time we listened to super worm 🪱 and helped Sammie finish the end of the sentences, from this we then spoke about our favourite books and characters. 📚
We then ventured Into the woods where we noticed signs of autumn, the changes in our environment and new emerging plants and mushrooms 🍄

Once we made base camp we set off on a little adventure with treasure pots collecting acorn tops, sticks and leaves. 🌿

For lunch we sat under the big tent ⛺ to keep us snug and dry.

We then became artists where we did leaf rubbings using wax crayons and pained over it with homemade blackberry paint 🫟

A huge game of hide and seek kept us entertained untill it was time to pack up and walk back.

Imaginations were running wild in the mud kitchen this morning as we whipped up meals for dinosaurs and animals, created leaf baths for the dinosaurs and played happy birthday games.

There was lots of interest in the daffodil bulbs and a lot of care was taken planting them.

We ended the afternoon by taking a walk to the church where we searched for the knitted mice, read stories and played some of the puzzle games.

Today we have been exploring and investigating our environment. The discovery of a chafer grub led to questions about the life cycle and a fascination about the fact that the grub will start digging deeper in the soil over winter before making it's way back up next year and only completing it's transformation around May or June.

The little birds were popular today and as we collected leaves and sticks to build nests in the trees for them, we talked about what type of birds they were. After their nests were all nice cosy it was tiny to head to the mud kitchen where the search for worms 🪱 began and tasty food of leaf pie 🥧 was made for the birds.

To feed the real birds we threaded Cheerios onto wire and hung them up in the trees or took them home for the birds in the garden.

It was lovely welcoming everyone back after the summer holidays. We've had a great time catching up with our friends and getting to know new friends.

After watching the ducks on the canal we decided to make some bird feeders. Using pinecones, lard and bird seed we each had a different way of getting it all stuck together. Some of us used spoons to squash it together, while others pressed and rolled the pinecones over the lard and bird seed.

After discovering some conker shells we made conker soup and pie 🥧. It took six children to mix it before it was just right!

It's been great seeing everybody again and welcoming new friends, and we can't wait to see what this year brings 😊.

We would like to thank our families for all the lovely messages and gifts that have been passed onto us. We all love spending our days with your children and while the thoughtful messages and gifts are not expected they are very much appreciated.

Throughout the year we have witnessed your children learning new skills, making new friends, growing in confidence, passing on knowledge about nature to others and having lots of fun by playing, exploring and using their imaginations.

We are really going to miss the children going onto their next adventure but we are confident that they will all flourish and succeed in their journey.

We also look forward to seeing what the next year brings when children return in September and our forest school journey continues.

Have a great summer and we shall you on the 2nd September 😊.

We ended our academic year by going to our favourite place, The Big Woods.

A lovely sandy hole became a kitchen where stick people were served broccoli soup 🥦 🍲, cheesecake, pots of tea ☕, chocolate ice-cream 🍫 🍦, and concrete surprise 😬.

The K-pop demon hunters graced us with their presence on a log stump stage and renditions of Golden could be heard across the woods.

On another large log 🪵, pilots were flying aeroplanes ✈️ and stuntmen were practising their jumps and slides.

All of our wooden cars 🚗 have been completed which took a couple of weeks to complete. It started with using the bow saw 🪚 to chop small logs, then finished by screwing round discs onto them for wheels.

It was a lovely cool start to the day ☀️

Once we all met at the hut we walked into the woods where we enjoyed snack and listened to a book 📚

We continued our end of year projects using a variety of tools and once complete we decorated them ready to take home 🪚

We made marks in the dusty soil creating pictures using sticks and even our fingers 🤞

We swung in the hammock pretending to be butterflies in a caccoon 🦋 and pulled the long pieces of rope using our imagination that it was a train! Choo Choo 🚂

Sticks became light savers and the climbing tree was the safe base 🌲
We were treated again to ice lollies which we enjoyed with our lunch 🥪 Thank you 👍

Once back at the hut we did super sonic fast running races and even had time for a quick place of police officers In the bush! 🚨

Howdy, partner! 🤠
Today we made lasso's to capture tree branches! 😂 The children completed their end of year projects by carefully using a screwdriver 🪛 to attach wheels to their log cars 🏎️👍 We made pretend campfires 🔥, played 'pets', read stories, used ropes to create our own safety areas and had a visit from a very tidy robot 🤖 who moved everyone's bags to the dump! 😱😂

There was excitement this morning as we met a group of students doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, so we got to watch them getting the canoes ready and waved goodbye to them as they went on their way.

We've been working on our end of year projects using a screwdriver 🪛 and screws this time. It's quite tricky coordinating pushing and twisting at the same time but the children persevered and they were pleased with what they were able to do.

We'll reveal the final product at the end of the week once all the children have finished.
