Supporting older people experiencing domestic abuse relies on the skill, care, and commitment volunteers and practitioners bring every day.
To mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Dewis Choice has created two short films exploring how conversations about domestic abuse can begin.
• 'Space to Tell' shares an older woman’s experience of what made it possible to disclose;
• 'The Power of Asking' focuses on how practitioners can support these conversations safely and sensitively.
Together, they offer practical insight, grounded in lived experience, into what helps someone feel able to share and how small moments can make a real difference.

Today is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We’re shouting loudly that great mental health care isn't just clinical, it's human. It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the adviser who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. And it's you reminding friends and loved ones that these contact details can save lives. Please share 💙

Child neglect is the most common form of child maltreatment in England and features in over 50% of safeguarding reviews. It is often under-recognised, inconsistently defined, and responded to too late, despite its long-term impact on children’s health and wellbeing. The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel has helpful resources on child neglect available on their newly launched website. Visit the hub to find more resources on child neglect:
