QUESTION What age is your forest school sessions for?
ANSWER They are CHILD LED

That means we influence the activities but ultimately we adapt and change depending on the group, how they interact , what the site offers and the weather. We try to stay in a theme but that's often just a starting point.

Check us being led away by the kids on a bear hunt (I wanted to go slower - no chance!)

We are aiming for primary school age. But we could easily incorporate older or younger children. And we rope in parents so we cater for adults too.

We can do this because we have 2 forest school leaders Sam and Rawdon. We also have David who is an Akela for Scouts and Albert - a practitioner of free movement and an experienced educator and outsoorsman. Theyll always be at least 2 of there so we can differentiate and peel off and cater for all ages (even adults - yes theres tea and coffee).

And dont forget we have hammocks, jenga and the bounce net on hand which is fun for all ages.

Mosses don’t die off in winter - they have a natural anti-freeze which means they can tolerate very low temperatures! 🌡️

When other vegetation dies off and leaves fall, moss is often greener and more noticeable during these colder, wetter months. Mosses can even continue their reproductive cycles, so winter is a great time to get out and explore their diversity.

Mosses are an important part of our biodiversity, harbouring a microcosmic world that’s a haven for organisms that are too small for us to see. Learn more about the wonderful world of mosses in our blog! http://www.woodlandtru.st/5PAgM
