Year 1 had a fantastic day at Formby Beach today. They loved exploring the sand, finding shells, building sandcastles and digging. The children enjoyed the scavenger hunt which had been planned. No visit to the beach is complete without a paddle in the sea!

The children in Year 6 went to the Liverpool Diocese Leavers Service in Liverpool Cathedral today. They joined hundreds of other Year 6 children for a celebration of their time at primary school and look forward to the next chapter of their lives as they move on to their high schools.
The children enjoyed the service and were a credit to the school.

As part of our careers-related learning, Y3 have been looking at what skills you need if you had a job as an archaeologist which links to our Ancient Egyptian topic. They have realised they need to be a good team player to work with other experts like historians and scientists in order to learn as much as possible about the past. You also must be good at problem solving and very patient to do this.

Xander has smashed his target and has now raised enough money to buy a wig for a child with cancer. If he can raise another £180 it pays for that wig to be professionally fitted- so please donate and share. Even £1.00 will help.
Thank you

For months, Xander has been growing out his locks to donate them to a charity making real-hair wigs for children fighting cancer.

Now, it is finally time for the big chop!

Year 6 have been producing prayers on a fish template to take to our Leavers' Service next week at Liverpool Cathedral. These prayers were the children's opportunity to reflect on their time at St Thomas' and be hopeful for the future. The children will be collating these prayers together and then presenting them during the service.

This week, Reception have been learning all about minibeasts. Today, we enjoyed a minibeast hunt in the garden, using a checklist to identify the different creatures we discovered. We explored a variety of microhabitats and thought carefully about the best places to find each minibeast.

Today, Year 5 used Lego to explore and compare engineering from the past and present. Members of the archives came in to deliver a fantastic workshop for the children.

It was lovely to see so many of St Thomas's children at Golborne Carnival, past and present. Olivia a past pupil handed over her crown to Poppy the new Queen. The entourage was made up of Carly, Jackson, Lyla, Theon and Stanley. Georgie showed one of our values, courage by singing in the talent contest and there were lots of our pupils involved in the Morris Dancing. Well done all, we are super proud of you. We hope you all enjoyed the day.

Reception have finished our DT project by making some vegetable soup. We had fun chopping the vegetables and using our senses to explore all the ingredients before cooking and tasting our finished soup.
