Congratulations to all the students receiving GCSE results today, especially having had 2 years of their education disrupted.

Can you believe it's now 10 years ago since our penultimate set of record-breaking GCSE results at Woolston Community High School?

Does anyone still has any of the Josh Williams sports trophy’s? Joshua was my brother who died in June 2000. After his death my family bought one large and 20 small trophy’s which were meant to be given out to someone in year 9 every year for sports achievement. My sister and I was hoping that someone might still have one as we don’t.

It’s with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Woolston Community High School’s last Headteacher, Jill Robinson.

Jill joined us as Headteacher at what was a low point in the school’s history. She worked tirelessly to ensure that Woolston reached the high standard of which it was capable. She had a firm belief in the potential of the staff to turn things round for the benefit of our pupils.

She was immensely proud of the way that staff and pupils worked together to achieve the Ofsted grade ‘Good with many outstanding features’ in our 2010 inspection. She saw this as a reward and well-deserved recognition for everyone’s efforts.

However, she was very sad that, despite all our efforts, we lost the fight for the school’s survival due to the review of school provision across Warrington and regretted the resulting impact on staff, pupils and the community. She fought really hard to ensure no students lost out as the school reduced in size in the run up to closure.

Her legacy is the success of our students as they progressed to the next phase of education and into successful careers, the staff from Woolston who have continued to make real difference in other educational institutions and the final years of the school being some of its most successful.

Jill’s death has been a shock to us all and those of us who knew her will have our own memories of how she encouraged us, supported us and celebrated Woolston’s achievements with us.
