and What a Summer we have had!

Velocity Dance is now off for a week.
We will see the dancers back at classes commencing September 4th 2023.

Our Summer Art, Storytelling and Dance Intensive was 'brilliant'!🙌
Not only did the kids have fun, but us teachers did too .

The 3 days started with a discovery around the local park , using our 5 senses to collect information and objects. We then shared and collated some of these thoughts and ideas and devised some stories/raps/poems based on them. We then turned these stories into dance.

Then we moved onto creating our own magical park lands, if you could have anything at a park what would it include? Rides, free sweets, underground slides.

We went for another visit to the park, collecting leaves, branches, acorns, feathers and used these to influence creating another dance. We designed and created some Pebble art about the park ( which will eventually be on show under the Defib to the side of our building).

The 3 days finished with parents being given a tour by their child around our mini art gallery and a dance performance.

The children really are working so hard at our dance days and it's been so lovely welcoming lots of new faces 🧡

Last Thursday we had a wonderful day of dance and art, working with the musical 'Matilda'. We played games, did technique exercises, rehearsed singing 'Revolting Children', the children created their own book marks discussing what they want to be when they grow up and they learnt a dance. Yet again another brilliant and successful day.

We still have a couple of FREE places available on our Kids Summer Intensive, hot lunch provided. ( for children in receipt of benefit related free school meals)

Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th 10-2pm.

Across the 3 days the children will go on an outside discovery for inspiration, take part in storytelling, art, dance, games and most of all have lots of fun.

It's been a busy day for us Velocity Dancers and Teachers. A wonderful afternoon of Acro delivered by the fabulous , the kids gained so much and had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to Mondays session now 🧡

Did you catch the news that we've got a BIG family weekend and town centre takeover at the end of the month? ✨

Today, we wanted to tell you all about the parade we've got planned on Saturday, 29 July...

Choreographed by Ruth Jones, pictured, Many Hands will bring people together to explore the shared communicative power and expressive potential of hands 🙌👋👏

Four professional dance artists will be joined by the Warrington Wolves Foundation, Warrington Youth Zone, Velocity Dance, Mature Movers – and the Warrington community.

The performance starts at 2.40pm at Time Square and will travel past Warrington Market onto Bridge Street and around the Guardians (Skittles) before returning back to Time Square. Here the promenade performers will join the wider community for a en masse dance!

👨‍👦 Want to join in? A drop-in workshop is taking place at Time Square between 12pm and 2pm, where you can make your own hand to join the big dance at the end of the parade. Suitable for all the family but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Amazing results today for our Velocity Dancers. put on a real challenging competition with some absolutely amazing dance schools, it was a hard one thats for sure.
So pleased and proud to say that our dancers still came out with some wonderful awards....

Competition Day today for this wonderful lot 🧡💃🙌

As you may be aware Velocity Dance was raising funds to purchase a defibrillater for the dance school and its local community.

We still had quite a way to go, when one of our beautiful supportive families offered to buy it out right for the school and community in Memory of their Father/Father-in-law. What a beautiful , generous and wonderful thing to do. Thank you so much Nicki and Dave Porter 🧡🙏

It is up now and ready for use if it should ever be required. The code for access can be found on Defib locator sites, but I am also happy to provide it to local businesses, community groups/clubs etc. Please just drop me message.

Using the joy of dance to celebrate the Coronation of the King on the 6th May 2023.

I do not actually know where to begin, other than proud, proud, proud!!! 🧡

We have been out of competitions for a while now, this was our first real one back today in Bury since covid, and well the dancers just smashed it.

We placed 1️⃣st for ALL our teams, yes thats right 1st for everything!!!!!

➡️Minis Novice Street Dance 1st 🏆

➡️Juniors Novice Street Dance 1st🏆

➡️Juniors Experienced Street Dance 1st🏆 ( may I add these should have been beginners as they have only just formed, but they had no one to compete against so asked to be moved to experienced and still smashed it).

➡️Youth Experienced Street Dance 1st🏆

➡️Mixed Age Experienced Street Dance 1st🏆

Then one of our dancers won the Judges choice award for stand out as a dancer/performer🏅

Our Minis went on and won Top Notch Novice award which was for new groups to competitions that showed talent. 🏆

We then went onto Solos and Duets.....
Lyrical Duets collected 1st and 2nd place🥇🥉
Musical Theatre Duet collect 1st place🥇
Musical Theatre Solo collected 2nd Place🥈
Street Dance Solo collected 1st place🥇

And finally we had three groups win awards to be taken into the the Grand Finals in January 2024!

All in all it was a fabulous first competition back, after being away for so long 🧡🧡🙌🙌

Well done team Velocity Dancers I am so incredibly proud of you. You all work so hard and listen so carefully to feedback. Its clearly paying off. I was blown away by you all today 🙌🙌

Wishing our newly formed and existing Competition Groups the best of luck for tomorrow.

This will be our first competition, for our team groups since COVID ( we did one last January but was for the whole school to join in and have a go at). Tomorrow we take our Minis Juniors, Youth and Seniors. As well as duets and solos.

They have all worked so incredibly hard over the past few months. Whatever the outcome is, we are super proud of you all. Just try your best and have fun, thats all you can do now. Enjoy the experience and spending time with your dance family. 🧡
