Reception had a fantastic afternoon at the museum, linking to our Science learning about animals and their habitats!
We listened to Percy the Park Keeper: After the Storm and identified the animals in the story, discussing where they live, what they eat and how they might feel. The children also had the opportunity to see the animals up close and feel their fur, feathers or spikes! π¦π¦π¦π¦
We then used our fine motor skills to mould clay into our very own hedgehogs before finishing the afternoon with the rest of the story and a fun animal memory game.
A wonderful afternoon of stories, creativity and learning! π¦

Maths learning this weekπ’
Reception have also been learning how to make the numbers 6, 7 and 8. The children used the partβwhole model to find different ways to compose each number and practised saying stem sentences such as: β3 is a part and 3 is a part, the whole is 6.β
The children did a fantastic job sharing their ideas and learning from each other!ππΌπ

This week in maths, Reception have been learning about pairs. We talked about how a pair means two and used objects to find matching pairs.
We explored this using socks, finding pairs that matched and spotting odd socks when there was only one. This helped us understand the difference between odd numbers (one left over) and even numbers (all socks have a pair). Great learning and lots of fun had by everyone!ππ§¦
