🌟 What a lovely first week at Nature Garden! 🌟

A very special welcome to all our new children, who have had such a wonderful start to their preschool journey. 💛 It has been so lovely watching them settle in, explore, play and make new friends.

And a big welcome back to all our returning pre-schoolers! 🥰 What a joy it has been seeing familiar faces reunited with old friends and welcoming so many new friends into our preschool family.

We are so proud of everyone for a fantastic first week filled with smiles, laughter, friendships and lots of exciting adventures! 🌈✨

🚤🌊 Cork Boat Making 🌊🚤

Our children explored the exciting world of cork boat making! They used their creativity to design and build little boats, then discovered how they could make them move across the water simply by blowing. 💨

This playful activity offered so many valuable EYFS learning opportunities:

🌱 Understanding the World – Exploring floating, movement, wind and cause and effect.

🗣️ Communication & Language – Talking about their creations, making predictions and describing what happened.

🎨 Expressive Arts & Design – Using imagination and different materials to design and decorate their boats.

✋ Physical Development – Developing fine-motor skills through building and handling materials, while practising controlled blowing.

🔢 Mathematics – Comparing which boats travelled further or faster and using words such as fast, slow, near and far.

🧠 Problem Solving – Testing ideas, making changes and discovering what helps their boats move.

🤝 PSED & Social Skills – Sharing resources, taking turns, working alongside friends and celebrating each other's ideas.

Most importantly, the children were learning through play, experimenting, making choices and having lots of fun! 💙

🎨 The Benefits of Spray Painting in Preschool 🎨

Our spray paint activity offered lots of valuable learning opportunities for the children:

✨ Fine motor development – squeezing and controlling the spray bottles strengthens little hands and fingers.

👀 Hand-eye coordination – children practise aiming and directing the spray onto the paper.

🧠 Concentration and control – they learn to control their movements and observe the effect of their actions.

🎨 Creativity and self-expression – children can explore colours, patterns and marks in their own unique way.

🔎 Cause and effect – pressing the bottle and seeing the paint appear helps children understand actions and outcomes.

💬 Communication and confidence – children can talk about their choices, colours and creations while developing confidence in their ideas.

🌈 Most importantly, children are learning through hands-on, playful experiences while having fun!

Our little chefs have been busy getting creative in the mud kitchen, mixing, scooping and creating their very own delicious-looking mud pies! 🥧🤎

Messy play is such a wonderful way to encourage imagination, language, sensory exploration and teamwork — and there’s nothing better than getting stuck in! ✨

Our little adventurers had a fantastic time climbing, balancing and exploring outdoors on the rope swing and rope wall. 🌿✨

A wonderful opportunity to build confidence, coordination and physical skills while enjoying the freedom of outdoor play and the beauty of our woodland surroundings. 💚

Our preschool children used wooden shapes to design and create their very own rockets while learning all about the solar eclipse. 🌞🌙

A wonderful hands-on activity combining creativity, imagination and early science learning — with plenty of opportunities to talk, explore and ask questions along the way! 🌟

Building strong bodies through active play! 🌈💪

Our little learners had a fantastic time developing their physical skills through fun and engaging activities! From jumping through hula hoops, practising hopping and balancing, to improving hand-eye coordination with target throwing, every challenge was packed with fun and learning.

These activities helped children develop:
✨ Gross motor skills
✨ Balance, coordination and body control
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Spatial awareness
✨ Core strength and agility
✨ Concentration and listening skills
✨ Confidence, resilience and perseverance
✨ Turn-taking and teamwork

Active play is an essential part of the EYFS, supporting children's physical development while also promoting problem-solving, self-confidence and overall wellbeing. Through movement and play, children build the foundations for a healthy, active lifestyle and develop the skills they need for everyday tasks and future learning.
