With the summer coming upon us and families needs for as hoc childcare is coming in regularly, I have the last few weekend spots available over the summer now so if anyone is looking ahead for some time with their friends/ partners or family please consider making contact to provisionally book.

I am having a wonderful 2 days helping out as Granny help for 2 lovely children G1 and G3 to give Mum and Dad some well deserved rest after a prolonged period of family illness.

Self care really is important for all you Mummy’s and Daddy’s in filling your jug!

Today we will be focusing on cafe play as per request of G3 and making beautiful Mother’s Day cards to add to the collection on gifts to pass over when Mummy is home tomorrow hopefully we’ll rested.

After 6 months focusing on my new role within the Children’s Charity, I am now loving being back part time caring for those little people and ensuring those Mummies, Daddies and Significant Others get those quality moments together too 🥰

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to update you that moving forwards I will only be available for Ad Hoc weekend and evening work.

I recently accepted and took on a role within a children’s charity that will enable me to put my years of knowledge and experience into a sector to help the most vulnerable children to thrive with the support of the wider community.

I love what I do in helping families achieve their visions for their children and I will continue to be available for consultative works and ad hoc sleep consultation, behaviour support, child counselling blast calls and ad hoc sole charge weekend work.

I have loved working within families for the past 12 years and though I won’t be full time nannying moving forwards please feel free to contact for support and if I can I will 🙂

Some of the biggest things I get asked by parents is how I can help their children manage their feelings which tend to be expressed in a physical manner when not understood.

As children get older they are better able to understand and recognise a face with a word and feeling.

Today we watched a brief video on the “wheel of emotion” see link below, this is a fun a brief 5 minute video disguising some everyday emotions in a simple way. From this we discuss and related these emotions in our lives and used mirrors and open questions to explore each one.

Learning through play isn’t always just fun for children, as adults we can have a little giggle too. Today was the bottle to choose the emotions. The NF also giggled at this too!

When working abroad it’s always handy to have a go to bag of “things” to help your charges have some downtime when it’s either a little too warm or when they need a break from swimming. I have found that items that involve engagement but are not over taxing are the go tos as little minds in new surroundings get tired. We loved our retro ‘The Beetle Game’ which adults and charges got involved in alongside the trusty 4 pot play dough and colouring pencils for pictures and letter writing. G3 even drew her very own beetle picture for which we all were very proud!

We are getting into the Queens Jubilee festival spirit with some cake baking for our nursery picnic tomorrow! We have adopted the colours of red, white and blue to decorate to reflect the British flag 🇬🇧 and also to match our outfit tomorrow.
As I alway say, baking is such a fun, engaging and rewarding way to get children learning in a way that is exciting and meaningful to them. Seeing the process, placing in the oven (out of sight) and the end result enables children to learn it’s about the process of an action not the end result. Something I strongly believe in as a practitioner and a concept that underpins my practice!
Children love to learn if it is meaningful to them and fun. ❤️ 👑 🧁

Water painting on the patio to practice pattern and shape forming whilst adapting hop scotch to letter jumping! We had great fun sounding out the word Easter and jumping from letter to letter, recognising the shape of each letter and repeating the sound. It’s important that all learning styles are incorporated during play to ensure the knowledge is embedded in a play based fashion! Also a win for the environment! We also had a great discussion around “the disappearing letters” as an extension to the initial activity. Learning is the ability to have open mindful and enabled environments that facilitate questions because where questions are asked, children’s minds grow.
