As a reminder to parents the West Site kitchen will not be operational tomorrow (Friday 4th September) due to the slight overrunning of summer works. Therefore, can all Year 7 and Year 8 students please ensure they bring a packed lunch to school tomorrow.

Dolce (our catering provider) will provide a cold packed lunch meal for all free school meal eligible pupils.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming back students to King Alfred's this week.

Please note the staggered start to Term 1, where we welcome our Year 7, 9 and 12 students in to the Academy on Thursday 3rd September. Years 8, 10, 11 and 13 return the next day (Friday 4th), so all year groups will be in school from Friday 4th September.

Please also remember the change to the Academy Day timings starting this week. Students need to be in school ready to start Tutor time at the earlier time of 8.40am, with the school day also finishing slightly earlier at 3.05pm.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 and Year 12 students, and to seeing everyone back in school for the start of the academic year.

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students who have received their GCSE and Level 2 results this morning. Year 11 have achieved a commendable set of results, and we are proud of how the students demonstrated great knowledge, determination and resilience during their preparations, leading to success across a broad curriculum for those who picked up their results today after five years of hard work.

Particular mention goes to:
• Laurence who achieved a fantastic set of 10 GCSEs, of which 8 were a grade 9 and 2 were a grade 8.
• Isaac who achieved a remarkable 11 GCSEs, of which 6 were a grade 9, including Further Maths which he undertook independently.
• Liam who also achieved a marvellous 11 GCSEs, of which 5 were a grade 9, including Further Maths which he also studied for outside of normal classroom lessons.
• Millie and Sophie, both of whom achieved an impressive 3 grade 9s each amongst their collective 20 GCSEs at grades 9-7.

Each of our students should be enormously proud of the application and hard work demonstrated in achieving these outcomes. It is particularly pleasing that these results will allow the vast majority of our students to take the next step in their education or chosen career. Headteacher Jonathan Smart also paid tribute to the staff of King Alfred’s Academy, who have worked tirelessly to support our students throughout their time at the school.

A very well done to all our Year 11 students!

We are really proud of the A-level and BTEC results of our Year 13 students. They have done incredibly well to achieve the grades needed in order to secure university places, apprenticeships or employment. Your teachers have loved working with you for the past seven years and wish you the very best of luck for the next, exciting stage of your lives.

Particular well done to Thomas who achieved two A* and two A grades and to Louis who achieved two A* and an A across their A level subjects.

With A-Level and Level 3 results day tomorrow, just a reminder the Summer 2026 exam results will be available for students to collect from the Sixth Form Auditorium as follows:

A level and Level 3 results on Thursday 13th August 2026 from 8.30am

GCSE and Level 2 results on Thursday 20th August 2026 from 9.00am

Results will also be emailed during the afternoon of results day to students’ KA email addresses.
