Last week at Camel..........

The ladybird room have been concentrating this week on "where we live." They have done a lot of role play over the week, the children have been to the shops, sat on the bus and had turns at driving, been looked after at the doctors and looked at books in the library.
The ladybirds have also played with the coloured houses and people, starting to match the figures to the right coloured houses. They have also been mark making in the tuff tray and trying their hardest to draw houses with the chalk. The Ladybirds have also played with the magnetic shapes and duplo, and the cars and car mat. They also spent time drawing a street on the big paper which had houses and cars on.

The Butterfly room have been looking at "Our 5 Senses" this week so they have had a very hands on week. On Monday and Tuesday we concentrated on smell and we played with the lavender scented playdough, and in the citrus water, talking about what we could smell. Wednesday was all about hearing, so the children had great fun playing with the musical instruments making lots of different sounds. Thursday was touch and the ooblex/gloup came out to play. Friday was all about taste, the children had a great time making their own fruit salads to have at snack time, and the children did so well at trying some new fruits. They also had fun playing in the jelly.
On top of all this we have also talked about foods that are healthy and unhealthy for us and we drew our favourite foods on our plates. We finished off the week painting with different vegetables.

In the garden the children had fun playing with the tool kits fixing the fences and play equipment. Making marble runs and creating lots of puppets shows for everyone to watch.

We have completed another week at Camel, this term is flying with all the fun we're having.

The Ladybird room this week have been looking at their families, and the people who are special to them. They have been drawing their families, starting those early stages of how everyone looks different from each other. They have really enjoyed looking at the photos of their families with their friends at group times and then seeing them up on the display board. If your child hasn't brought their family pictures in yet, please can they bring them in to share with everyone and for the display board. The Ladybirds have also enjoyed playing with the duplo dolls, the potato heads and Peppa Pig small world.

The Butterflies this week have been working on their colours looking at the 3 primary colours Red, Yellow and Blue and then using these colours to mix together and create more colours. The children because very excited when they could see the colours changing. Also this week the children have enjoyed looking at different feelings and emotions and how we express ourselves for each feeling. We used the colour monsters to help us and read the book. The children then got to create their own colour monsters at the drawing table. The Butterflies have also enjoyed playing with the construction duplo, the plastic screwdrivers and screws working on their fine motor skills and playing different games.

In the garden this week both rooms have had fun playing in the water with the jugs and funnels, woodland animals with autumnal leaves and wooden blocks, dinosaurs in the sand and free painting on the easel.

Last week at Camel the Ladybird Room have been working on friendships and making new friends, and they made a lovely friendship flower board with each child painting a petal and making their person. The children also had fun playing in the big blue rocker and learning to share and take turns. The ladybirds also enjoyed playing with the duplo zoo and creating pictures on the big paper.

The Butterfly room have also been working on friendships and how we play with each other share and take turns. The children have enjoyed making a big friendship tree using lots of handprints for the leaves, they have also made themselves using boy and girl stencils, they used mirrors to look at eye and hair colour. The Butterflies have also enjoyed completing people puzzles and playing games to take turns. As always paw patrol has been a big hit.

In the garden this week the children have enjoyed playing with the soft play, dinosaurs in the dry pasta, and water with the small equipment.

We had another week full of fun and activities last week.

The Ladybird room enjoyed being creative making lots of weird and wonderful bugs with the playdough and bug bits. They have also used crayons this week to get creative and draw pictures and starting to build up the strength in their little hands.
The Ladybirds have also enjoyed playing with different construction materials, making different pathways with the marble run, and tracks for the trains. They also played with the pirate ship and pirate figures.

The Butterfly room have been concentrating this week on looking at who are in our families and drawing them onto our house pictures from last week. The children really thought hard about how each person in their family looked thinking about hair colour and eye colour.
This week the children really enjoyed show 'n' tell, they all got to bring in their favourite or most special thing from home to talk about and share it with all the other children. Everyone sat lovely and listened to each child and some great questions were asked.
The Butterflies also enjoyed playing with the farm, and playing different games over the week.

In the garden this week the children had fun on the balance bikes, scooters and in the little tykes cars. We have been dressing up in the fairy and princess dresses and wearing the superhero capes.

We made it through our 1st full week where we welcomed some more new starters who have all done really well.

The ladybird room had fun playing with the coloured rice and the small equipment, filling and pouring small bottles and pots. They also played with the playdough making cakes using the cake tins and silicone cake cases. Paw patrol has been a big hit as well playing with the lookout tower and the pups and vehicles. Also they have enjoyed Peppa Pig small world, and playing with the duplo animates making lots of different animals. They all got creative and made handprints ready for the Ladybird room wall display.

The Butterflies this week have been looking at our where we live, and we created house pictures using different shapes and starting to gain scissor control. We also used playdough and Mr Potato bits to make our own people. We used magnetico, magnatiles and popiods construction materials over the week to make our own people and houses. The cars and the garage were a big hit, alongside Paw Patrol and the superhero figures. We have all made our butterflies now ready to go onto our birthday board.

In the garden all the children have enjoyed selling ice-creams from the shop, playing with the large diggers in the cereal and the equipment in the sand trays. The babies have been walked lots in their pushchairs and prams, and we've had great fun in the tunnel.

Welcome back 😁.

It has been lovely having all the children back in Camel this week, and welcoming all our new children, it has been nice meeting the children and families.

The children have been settling in really well across the Ladybirds and Butterflies. Both rooms have enjoyed playing with Paw Patrol which is going to be very popular 😀. Cars and garage and construction blocks. In the garden all the children have enjoyed playing on the play frame, cooking in the kitchen and selling ice-creams from the ice-cream stall. We also played with the big diggers in the cereal and took babies for walks in the pushchairs.

We would also like to say a massive THANK YOU to Tilly Wantagenail Spa and all their customers who kindly donated their tips jar to us at the end of last term. With the money we purchased this fantastic tunnel which the children have had great fun crawling through and climbing over.

Everyone at Camel would like to say a huge Congratulations to Lauren Cotter who received her college course grades today, passing with Distinction. Lauren is now a fully level 3 childcare practitioner, and we're delighted to say she'll be working with us for a few days a week from September. Well done Lauren you worked so hard and deserved your grades, enjoy your celebrations 🥳👏.

Last week at Camel the children enjoyed a lot of time out in the garden, there was water play everywhere. We had water with jugs and scoops in the big trays and water in the tuff trays with ducks and guttering. We also went on bug hunts using the binoculars and got very excited when we saw a real Grasshopper. We had lots of fun at our Princess and Pirate Party, some children had to walk the plank, and got to sq**rt the naughty animals using water guns. We also went on a treasure hunt to earn our snacks.

Over the past couple of days we have said Goodbye to our Butterflies who have graduated from Camel to move onto their chosen Primary Schools. We wish them all the very best of luck and will miss them lots.

All the staff would like to say a big THANK YOU for all the kind gifts we have received, we really do appreciate it. Hope you all have a lovely summer making lots of fun memories with your children and families, and we'll see some of you back in September and look forward to welcoming all our new children.

It was lovely to be back to normal last week, with all the children back in and no closures.

We'd like to say a big thank you to Molly Watts and Jennifer Crossley for their help last week while they carried out their work experience.

The Ladybirds had a busy week full of summer fun, they helped Lauren Cotter create a lovely display board, creating boats by paint dabbing, they also enjoyed big paper painting. The table was covered in paper and the children were let loose to get creative, and also woth the whiteboards and pens. The children also enjoyed playing in the citrus scented water, using oranges, lemons and limes to create the lovely smell. They also played with the oats and small equipment. The children had fun playing with Paw Patrol and the wild animals.

The Butterfly room have been learning all about the life cycle of a Butterfly, and created their life cycles pictures to help them remember the sequence. We also spoke about symmetry when it came to creating the butterfly wings and how they had to look the same on both sides. They also enjoyed playing in the green coloured rice for grass and with the mini bugs.
The children have also enjoyed playing with the suitcase and shells taking the bears on holiday.

Last week we had our last yoga session with Michelle and Tatty Bumpkin, and also our music and movement session with Cheryl from Boogie Mites. Thank you to both of you for another year of fun and adventures, we look forward to seeing you back in September.
