Our children had a wonderful visit to the residential home today 💛

Wearing their beautiful bonnets, they sang their songs with confidence and joy, bringing plenty of smiles along the way. It was a lovely opportunity to share such a special moment with the residents, who thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

We are so proud of how kind, respectful, and enthusiastic the children were throughout the visit – they truly made our school proud! 🌼

🚒 What an exciting day for our Year 1 children!

They had a fantastic visit from our local firefighters, who showed them around the fire engine and explained all about the important work they do. The children loved exploring the equipment, sitting inside the truck, and asking lots of brilliant questions!

A huge thank you to the firefighters for making it such a fun and memorable experience 🔥👨‍🚒

📚 World Book Day at WPA! 📚

What a fantastic day we’ve had celebrating our love of reading! It was wonderful to see so many amazing costumes around school - from classic characters to some very creative ideas! The children loved sharing the books that inspired their outfits and talking about their favourite stories.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in the Footy & Booky Live Quiz, where they tested their knowledge of books, football and famous authors. We also joined a World Book Day Live Lesson, which inspired lots of excitement about reading and storytelling.

One of the highlights was our Reading Buddies session, where older and younger pupils paired up to share books together. It was lovely to see the children enjoying stories side by side and encouraging each other to read.

Days like today remind us just how powerful books can be. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special! 📖💫

This morning we were up at 7:30am, with the children packing their suitcases…some having to sit on their suitcases to get them closed!

We then headed out for a beautiful coastal walk, followed by lunch on the beach. After eating, the children enjoyed some beach exploration, sandcastle building, and rock pooling, making the most of our final adventures together.

We are now on the coach and heading back to Wantage Primary - tired, sandy and full of brilliant memories from an unforgettable residential! 🌊🏖️✨

Thank you so much to all our wonderful Year 6s for making this week truly special!

🌟 Year 6 Residential: Day 4 Update 🌟

Last night, we tucked into a delicious roast dinner, before wrapping up warm and heading out for our night walk. We walked to a ruined castle, where the children bravely switched off their torches to stargaze, listen to the flowing river, and soak up the atmosphere. It was a very special and memorable moment for all.

Today brought another exciting challenge with rock climbing. We got a little wet along the way, but that certainly didn’t stop the fun! The children showed incredible perseverance, bravery and teamwork, overcoming fears and encouraging one another.

Just when we needed it most, the rain gave us a break and the sunshine popped out in time for some well-earned rocky road: the perfect treat to end the session.

We are so proud of how resilient and determined the children have been today. They are absolutely smashing every challenge that comes their way 💛

🌟 Year 6 Residential – Day 3 🌟

What a brilliant (and very adventurous!) day for our Year 6s!

Last night, everyone enjoyed a hearty dinner of pasta bolognese and garlic bread, followed by apple crumble for dessert 😋 A huge thank you to our lovely duty group who did a fantastic job serving dinner and helping with the clear up.

After dinner, the excitement continued with den building… torches at the ready! The children loved working together and getting creative.

This morning, breakfast was bright and early at 8am before we headed off for an unforgettable caving experience at Port yr Ogof. The children crawled through tiny spaces, squeezed through small gaps, and didn’t mind getting a little bit wet along the way! 🧗‍♂️💦

The bravery shown by the Year 6s was exceptional. They encouraged one another, supported friends when things felt tricky, and showed incredible courage throughout. It was truly special to witness and we couldn’t be prouder of them all.

🌿🚣‍♀️ Year 6 Residential: Day 2 Update! 🚣‍♂️🌿

What a brilliant day it’s been! Year 6 have just returned from a fun-filled day canoeing on the canal, and they were absolute superstars from start to finish.

From learning how to paddle safely, to working as a team to steer their canoes (with lots of laughter along the way!), the children showed fantastic resilience, cooperation and determination. A few splashes here and there definitely added to the fun! 😄💦

We are so very proud of our incredible Year 5 pupils who took part in the SPS Public Speaking competition today. They presented their speeches with such passion and were all commended by the judges for their humour, story telling and brilliant presentation skills. I was so proud of how the WPA teams supported one another and the other teams representing schools from our local community. We were lucky enough to come away with the trophy for best speech too! Huge congratulations to Freya, Ellie, Natalia, Benji, Aeneas and Ksh*tij!
