🚨 Helin is going to prison... 🚨
Don't worry—it's the book, not the author! 😊
I'm excited to share that Helin's Peace in Pain has been donated to prison ministry services, where its message of faith, hope, healing, and restoration can reach those who may need it most.
Please join me in praying that every copy finds the right hands and reminds readers that no life is beyond God's love, grace, and redemption.
And if you'd like your own copy of Helin's Peace in Pain, it's still available to purchase.

Autism is more than a speech or language difficulty. Children with language impairment can usually understand language and connect socially. In autism, barriers involve social connection, engagement, shared attention, and understanding the purpose of communication. Before words can flourish, connection often comes first. Hope you find it useful. 🩵

When a child wants something but doesn't yet have a reliable way to ask, frustration can build quickly. Crying, reaching, dropping to the floor, or grabbing for items may be attempts to communicate a need.
Our goal isn't simply to reduce the behavior—it's to teach a more effective way to communicate. Whether through speech, a communication board, pictures, signs, or AAC, giving a child a voice can reduce frustration for everyone involved.

Communication changes lives. 💙

No single resource is ever perfect or fully adaptable to every complex need and individual difference, but they can still provide valuable support for communication. They help learners build confidence in conversation, share ideas, and strengthen their ability to understand and express meaning. Keep going 😇🩵

👜💙 A thoughtfully prepared “ready-to-go” bag can make such a difference for children with sensory, communication, and autism-related needs.

Some helpful things to pack:
Healthy finger snacks in small, easy-to-open portions
Sensory tools — squeezy balls, chewy toys, stretchy bracelets, texture toys/books
Familiar scents — calming perfumes, candles, or spicy scents
Small comfort items — mirror, brush, favourite little objects
Visual symbols/cards showing the steps of the outing

Children cannot always “just manage” outings simply because the steps were explained to them. Support and preparation matter. 💙💛🤍💚

Parents often feel pressured to choose the “right” autism approach quickly...but before any framework, technique, or program, it’s important to first understand the child in front of you.
Ask yourself:
How does my child communicate right now — even without words?
What initiations do they already make naturally?
How will this approach actually be implemented in daily life — and if it isn’t, what does my child do instead?
Best wishes 😇💗

You may have heard about “eye contact difficulties” in autistic people — but eye contact is often only the visible part of something more complex. Rather than focusing too much on eye contact itself (when it isn’t an eye health issue), it may be more useful to understand the reasons behind different patterns of eye orientation, such as comfort, sensory processing, and communication style. As long as interaction is functional and respectful, the emphasis shouldn’t be on enforcing typical gaze patterns.

💛Autism🩵 is rarely “just autism.”
Many children are managing sensory, attention, emotional, communication, and regulation challenges all at once.

Before pushing curriculum, ask:
✨ What does this child need right now to learn safely and successfully?

Real learning starts with regulation, attention, communication, and cognition — not comparison with peers.

This page is devoted to helping parents understand autism with clarity, compassion, and realistic hope for their child’s future.

I’ve realised it’s not about doing loads of activities…
it’s about being in the moment and helping your child understand it too.
That’s where communication really starts.❤️
