🎉🥂Celebrating 30 years of teaching!🥂🎉

I’ve been down memory lane this week with my lovely teacher friend Heather Thomas. We started together as NQTs in the same school in Cardiff 30 years ago and I’m proud to say we are both still in education ❤️
Reminiscing about paper planning, being ‘in charge’ of school journey at 23 years old, the huge open plan classrooms that housed 60+ children, the police chasing a man through the playground on my first playground duty and the irony that we assumed one of our colleagues was really old just because he was bald and the horrifying realisation that we are probably older now than he was then!
I’m not sure I’ve got another 30 years in me but I’ve got to say it’s been a wonderful journey ❤️

☠️ 🧮 THE PIRATE GAME! - ADAPTED FOR 7-11 YEAR OLDS! 🧮☠️

It's time for my annual post, just incase any of you haven't played THE PIRATE GAME!
I've adapted the original version to make it more primary friendly and created new game boards and a powerpoint to share with the children showing them how to play. This is one of those games that once you have played it with your class it will be your go to end of year activity for the rest of your career! Great for parties too!

⭐️⭐️ CURIOUS MATHS QUIZ - NOW ONLINE! ⭐️ ⭐️

I love showing children the fun side of maths and quizzing does just that! Last week I hosted the heats for years 3-6 for in London in preparation for the grand finals next week! That's approximately 700 children engrossed in maths and working collaboratively, which makes my heart sing!
The final will include the best mathematicians from across the Trust competing to become the Curious Maths Quiz Champions for each year group, taking home the title...until next year! I am starting another round of heats for another Trust with 4 schools this week so that will be well over 1000 pupils maths quizzing!

Turns out that Numicon pieces are 5mm thick and are perfect for spacers when building a fence! You’re welcome! 🤪
