Walsall GCSE Maths Tutor

Lovely message just in from a parent. I have my final session with her son on Tuesday, the day before GCSE math paper #3. He's got this!

Here is some of today's work for my year 10 group. They struggled with the surface area question, but I was able to help them through it.

I can teach this topic a few different ways. Using Venn diagrams would usually be my first choice. Hopefully my student now understands why he was marked down for answering '9' when asked for the HCF of 36 and 270.

GCSE maths paper #2 today. Waiting for the rest of my year 11s to report in. 😄

I am phasing out home visits and transitioning to becoming an online only maths tuition service. As this particularly family is in walking distance of my home, I will continue to go to their home until the young lady sits her GCSE exams in the summer 2027 exam series. They do look after me very well. ☺️

This young lady is coming into form just at the right time. These scores on practice papers are literally double what she was getting at the start of the current academic year. She just needs to hold her nerve for GCSE maths paper #1 on Thursday.

Every year round about mid January, my phone starts blowing up with messages from parents whose children have just had a disappointing GCSE maths mock exam result. They really want a maths tutor who is able to start immediately and help boost their child's knowledge, skill and confidence. The problem is that most of us are already fully booked at this time of year. It is my choice not to tutor on Fridays and also not to tutor at the weekend. Yes, I could make a lot more money, but I'd also be too knackered to enjoy it. The only other tutors that I know personally are also fully booked. When I tell parents that I am sorry I can't help, I really do mean it. I'd love to be able to help more young people get a better GCSE maths, but there is only one of me. A friend asked me why don't I hand off these leads to other tutors and take a commission from any lessons they deliver. That could work, but that is not a direction I want to take.
