Walsall based centre of learning, Walsall College home to 11,000 people studying vocational-technical qualifications, apprenticeships and higher education programmes each year, has renewed its patronage with the Chamber alongside the region’s largest shopping and leisure complex, Merry Hill.
Assistant Principal at Walsall College, James Norris said,
“Post-pandemic, it is more important than ever for education and industry to be in sync; with employers investing in their workforces and liaising with their local skills providers so they can act swiftly to level up our economy now and in future."
Meanwhile, Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at Merry Hill said,
“Membership provides Merry Hill with an important business network and opportunities to be actively involved in regional matters. It also means we can engage in national policy and benefit from being an active part in these conversations. We continue to look forward to working shoulder-to-shoulder with the Chamber and our fellow members over the next 12 months.”

We were delighted to host delegates from Walsall College and Sunderland College to visit SERC as part of a Project Based Learning training project funded through the The Edge Foundation
The visit included a full programme or training, the opportunity to talk to staff and meet students involved in PBL projects from a range of courses such as Performing Arts (Glass Umbrella), Computing (FixIT) & Hospitality and Catering (College Kitchen, SERC Food Truck).
Delegates also got an insight into student engagement outside of the curriculum through the Eco Committee, Go Green and the Entrepreneur Club.
