*THE ORIGINAL CLASSICAL ROUTE TO BECOMING A MALE SCHOLAR OF ISLAM*

The Jamia Abu Bakr Aalim Programme is a comprehensive six-year course rooted in the traditional Dars-e-Nizami curriculum, preserving the classical methodology of Islamic scholarship that has produced generations of scholars. Through the systematic study of Arabic, Nahw, Sarf, Balaghah, Fiqh, Tafseer, and Hadith, students develop a deep and thorough understanding of the Islamic sciences. The course emphasises understanding principles and methodology rather than merely memorising information, enabling students to build a strong Isti'daad (scholarly aptitude) for lifelong learning.
One of the distinguishing features of the programme is its focus on developing capable and independent students. At Jamia Abu Bakr, students are not trained merely to sit and listen to the teacher. Rather, they are taught the tools, principles, and methods necessary to understand, analyse, and engage with the classical texts themselves. As they progress through the course, they gradually develop the ability to read and comprehend the Kitaabs independently, reducing reliance on translations and secondary sources. This transition from being a listener to becoming an active student of knowledge is one of the most remarkable achievements of the programme and a testament to the strength of its teaching methodology.
Knowledge is built progressively over six years, allowing students to approach advanced texts with confidence and equipping them with the skills to continue researching and studying independently long after graduation. The emphasis on Arabic language and grammar gives students direct access to the Qur'an, Hadith, and the classical works of Islamic scholarship, opening the door to deeper understanding and further study.

A central aim of the programme is to produce future teachers and carriers of sacred knowledge. While many students complete Aalim courses having studied numerous texts and subjects, relatively few develop the ability to teach those same texts effectively. This is often because genuine Isti'daad has not been sufficiently developed. At Jamia Abu Bakr, the focus is not merely on completing the syllabus but on cultivating understanding, methodology, and intellectual confidence. Through this approach, students gradually develop the ability to explain, teach, and transmit the knowledge they have acquired.
As a result, graduates are equipped not only to understand the classical texts they have studied but also to teach many of those very texts to others. This ability to teach what they have learned is a rare quality and one of the defining strengths of the programme. By developing genuine scholarly aptitude, the course seeks to produce graduates who can continue learning, teaching, researching, and serving the Deen with confidence and competence.

The benefits of the course extend beyond the classroom. Alongside academic excellence, students experience personal and spiritual growth, gaining a deeper awareness of their responsibilities towards Allah, their families, and their communities. Many graduates have gone on to serve the Deen through teaching, Maktab and Madrasah education, lectures, community work, and further advanced studies. Others have pursued different professions whilst benefiting immensely from the strong grounding in Islamic knowledge and values that the course provides.
Ultimately, the Jamia Abu Bakr Aalim Programme does not merely impart information; it develops scholarly aptitude, intellectual confidence, and a lifelong connection with sacred knowledge. Its greatest achievement lies in producing students who are able to continue learning, teaching, researching, and benefiting others independently. This journey from dependence to independence is one of the greatest strengths of Jamia Abu Bakr. The quality of its teachers, students, and graduates has earned the programme a reputation as one of the leading Aalim courses in the country.

*THE ORIGINAL CLASSICAL ROUTE TO BECOMING A FEMALE SCHOLAR OF ISLAM*

The Jamia Abu Bakr Aalimah Programme is a comprehensive five-year course rooted in the traditional Dars-e-Nizami curriculum, preserving the classical methodology of Islamic scholarship that has produced generations of scholars.

A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on developing confident and independent students of knowledge. Students are trained not merely to listen and memorise, but to engage directly with the classical texts through structured guidance. As they progress, they develop the ability to read and understand the Kitaabs independently, gradually reducing reliance on translations and secondary explanations. This approach builds genuine understanding rather than surface-level learning.
The five-year structure allows knowledge to be built progressively, enabling students to approach advanced texts with clarity and confidence. Strong emphasis on Arabic language and grammar ensures direct access to the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical works of Islamic scholarship, opening the door to deeper study and continued intellectual growth.

A central aim of the programme is to prepare future female teachers of Islamic knowledge. In many cases, students complete long periods of study having covered numerous texts, yet do not gain the ability to confidently teach or explain what they have studied. This is usually due to a lack of developed Isti'daad during their learning process.

At Jamia Abu Bakr Girls, special focus is placed on developing this ability. Students are gradually trained to analyse, understand, and articulate the material they study, enabling them not only to learn but also to convey knowledge effectively. As a result, graduates are equipped to teach many of the subjects and texts they have studied, a quality that is increasingly rare and highly valued.
Beyond academics, the programme nurtures personal and spiritual development, instilling a strong sense of responsibility towards Allah and the wider community. Graduates have gone on to serve through teaching, women’s educational circles, Maktab and Madrasah work, community service, and further studies, while others have applied their grounding in Islamic knowledge across different professional paths.
Ultimately, the programme aims to develop more than graduates; it seeks to produce individuals with intellectual confidence, sound understanding, and a lasting connection to sacred knowledge.
This journey from dependence to independence is one of the greatest strengths of Jamia Abu Bakr Girls. The quality of its teachers, students, and graduates has earned the programme a reputation as one of the leading Aalim courses in the country.

Student Reflections
“Before joining the course, I relied heavily on translations. Through studying Arabic and the Islamic sciences, I gradually gained the ability to understand the classical texts directly and continue my studies independently.”
“The structured curriculum and dedicated teachers helped me build a strong foundation in the Islamic sciences. The knowledge and skills I gained continue to benefit me in every aspect of my life.”
“One of the greatest lessons I learned was how to study properly. The course did not simply provide information; it taught me the tools and methodology needed to continue seeking knowledge for years to come.”
“The programme strengthened both my understanding of the Deen and my confidence as a student of knowledge. The benefits continue to impact me personally, spiritually, and intellectually.”

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

"O you who believe! Be patient, persevere in patience, remain steadfast, and fear Allah so that you may be successful."

When the prayers are only 10 or 15 minutes apart, why rush out of the masjid and lose the immense reward that lies in remaining there? The Prophet ﷺ taught that a person remains in a state of worship while waiting for the next salah. These short moments between prayers are a golden opportunity to increase in reward.

Many people walk out of the masjid and unknowingly walk away from tremendous blessings. Remaining in the masjid while waiting for the next salah is an act of worship in itself, and the angels continue to make du'a for the one who remains in their place of prayer. When Allah grants you the opportunity of prayers being so close together, seize that opportunity and make the most of it. Don't let these precious moments and their immense rewards slip away. Remain steadfast, engage in dhikr, recite Qur'an, and be among those who strive for the pleasure of Allah.
