How do we tackle the biggest challenges facing the West Midlands? By coming together, sharing ideas and taking action.
Last week, our CEO Rob Colbourne OBE joined fellow advocates for the region at the Taskforce Summit and Social, led by Richard Parker, Mayor of West Midlands. The event focused on the key issues affecting our region and how collective action can create positive change.
Reflecting on the summit, Rob said:
"It is a privilege to be part of the Mayor's Taskforce, providing direct access to the Mayor and the opportunity to help shape the key issues affecting our region. The recent Taskforce Summit reinforced the importance of telling compelling stories that showcase positive outcomes, while also challenging us to be innovative in developing solutions that deliver real impact."
Events like these demonstrate the power of partnership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating positive outcomes across our region.
At Performance Through People, we are proud to play an active role in conversations that help shape a stronger future for the West Midlands.

The Paddles Pause for a Staycation🏡
After collecting passports in Gibraltar, Turkey, Malta and Seville, the PTP Paddles have swapped airports for a staycation adventure.
Their latest stop sees them catching up with new friends Greta and Godfrey, accompanied by a rather distinguished feathered local, as they relax and discuss where the paddles' travels might take them next.
From sun-soaked coastlines to city escapes, the paddles have already covered some impressive ground, but this latest stop proves that you don't always need to travel far to find great company and a new adventure.
The only question now is: where will the paddles appear next?

Celebrating success at the Adult Learning Awards 2026🏆
Yesterday afternoon, we joined learners, tutors, employers and providers from across the West Midlands to celebrate the incredible achievements recognised at the Adult Learning Awards 2026.
Since 2023, the awards have shone a light on individuals and organisations who go above and beyond in adult learning, skills and training, and we are incredibly proud to have seen two of our learners from Performance Through People recognised amongst this year's finalists.
Mercedes Green was shortlisted as a finalist in the Adult Learner of the Year - Skills For Work category. While raising a child, Mercedes remained focused on building a better future, progressing from unemployment into a pai role within a school and starting a Teaching Assistant apprenticeship. Her journey is a powerful example of determination, resilience, and never giving up on your goals.
Keegan James was shortlisted in the Transforming Lives Through Learning category - and was crowned the winner! Following the loss of his mother, Keegan stepped up to take care of his younger siblings while continuing his training. Through incredible strength and perseverance, he completed the programme and has since secured a full-time role supporting young people, becoming the role model he set out to be.
Both Mercedes and Keegan began their journey with Performance Through People on our Path2Apprenticeship programme, which helped them develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress towards their career goals.
We couldn't be prouder of both Mercedes and Keegan for their outstanding achievements and inspiring stories. Their success reflects the life-changing impact of adult learning and skills development.
A huge congratulations to all finalists and winners, and a special thank you to our Adult Department for their continued dedication and support in helping learners achieve their goals and transform their futures.
