Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our amazing Year 11 students at their Leavers' Assembly – a special occasion filled with reflection, laughter and plenty of proud moments.

As they walked through their guard of honour, it was a fitting way to recognise the hard work, commitment and resilience they have shown throughout their journey at Great Wyrley Academy. They have grown into a fantastic group of young adults, and we couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved.

Now, the celebrations continue as they prepare for one final evening together at their Year 11 Prom. ✨

We hope you all have an unforgettable night celebrating with your friends and staff. Enjoy every moment, make memories that will last a lifetime and celebrate everything you have accomplished.

🌭👨‍🍳 Year 8 DT Food – Street Food Special! 👩‍🍳🌭

Continuing with our exciting Street Food theme, our Year 8 students have been busy creating some delicious Corn Dog Bites! 😋

Students developed their practical cooking skills while learning about popular street foods from around the world, carefully preparing and cooking their own tasty creations.

The finished results looked fantastic and proved to be a huge hit, especially when served with a drizzle of ketchup and mayo! 🌟

It was wonderful to see students demonstrating creativity, confidence and excellent practical skills throughout the lesson.

A fantastic effort from Year 8 – they certainly looked very moreish! 👏

To our Year 11 students — well done.

You have worked incredibly hard to reach this point. From your first mock exams through to revision sessions, intervention classes and countless hours of preparation, you have shown real commitment, resilience and determination. 👏

Now, you are on the final stretch of your GCSE journey.

As the remaining exams approach, keep doing what you've been doing so well: stay focused, trust your preparation and give every paper your very best effort. 💪

We are incredibly proud of how you have conducted yourselves throughout the exam season so far. The maturity, perseverance and positive attitude you have shown has been fantastic to see.

🏆 YEAR 8 ROUNDERS TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our Year 8 Rounders team, who were crowned District Tournament Champions yesterday!

Competing in their first ever rounders tournament, the girls showed incredible determination and resilience throughout the day. After losing their opening match, they bounced back brilliantly to win their next four games in a row and secure the title.

Some standout moments included an impressive 5½–3 victory over Cheslyn Hay and scoring a remarkable 7 rounders against Cannock Chase High.

The team demonstrated fantastic teamwork, excellent communication and outstanding fielding across all of their matches, alongside some superb batting performances.

We are incredibly proud of every player for the way they represented the school. Well done, girls! 👏💙🏆
