Scamps was started in 2001, in the humble origins of a converted garage, as time progressed and its popularity grew it re-located to Benson Youth Hall, as Scamps continued to grow... and within a short period of time the search for a prime location within Benson started. After searching for many month's - 'Lowfield House' came onto the market. It was in an ideal location, it was in a safe location

and haven for the children, and had the most amazing garden for the children to play in. Lowfield House was purchased in February 2003....

The day nursery opened in late February 2003 and in September 2003 the after school club transferred from the Youth hall to Lowfield House to create a unique "home from home" environment. Scamps is recognised for its excellent childcare provision by both parents and the local authorities. Our overriding child care philosophy is to provide a warm, safe and happy environment, and one in which each child receives stimulation correctly levelled at his/her own particular age and stage of development. We believe that the learning of new concepts proceeds much more effectively when children feel happy and secure, and so to this end we combine the very best elements of current learning philosophy, using OFSTED recommendations as our guideline.

Afternoon all
The temperature has increased since this morning showing 45 degrees in the direct heat with little airflow. If possible please could you pick your child up at 4:30 this would be greatly appreciated. Update: Following our earlier post we are now all playing in the shade. Plenty of water play, paddling pools and swimming pools are in use. The temperature is now currently hitting 49 degrees in the direct heat. If possible we would ask that all children are picked up at 4pm. These are extreme temperatures and the children are already finding it hard. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. Please contact [email protected] if there are any issues.

Please be aware we are monitoring temperatures continuously today. Our garden has already hit 42 degrees. The children were taken straight outside this morning to make the most of the cooler conditions. If any further decisions need to be made due to health and safety of the children/staff we will inform you. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. Thank you for your understanding.

Good Afternoon

It seems like we have got a sickness bug in the nursery, possibly related to the heat. Please be vigilant at home and keep your child off for 48 hours after the last incident.

Hi all
With temperatures looking to hit 35+ degrees tomorrow. We will be keeping the children as cool as possible. Please can we ask that children are collected no later than 5pm. If you need to move your hours to allow for this, please email [email protected]

Good evening all
Please be advised that we are currently monitoring Thursday temperatures. We are being advised that this could be an extremely hot day and will make a decision on Wednesday to see if it is necessary to tweak opening hours.
