On 16th June, Kujali Children's Centre had the honour of hosting this year's Day of the African Child, bringing together children, families, community members and government representatives for a day that meant so much to everyone involved.

This day traces back to 1976, when thousands of school children in Soweto marched for their right to quality education and were met with terrible violence.

Their courage is why this day exists, and why we keep showing up for children's rights every year since.

This year's theme was Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.

It's a theme that matters deeply here, especially for children living in local slums

Clean water, safe toilets and good hygiene aren't small things. They're the foundation for a child's health, dignity, education and chance to thrive.

Kujali was proud to host this year's celebration and to welcome children and staff from across Thika West Sub County.

It was also a chance to share where Kujali is headed: our move from residential care towards family and community based care, so that children can grow up supported within their own families and communities.

Thank you to everyone who came together to make the day possible, and to every child whose courage in 1976 still inspires this work today.

As a result of your generosity, children here are safe, cared for, and building brighter futures.

Unlike many other charities, we have no staff and our Trustees cover any and all administrative costs.

Bottom line - 100% of the donations we receive from you are spent on the children in Kenya.

Together we can make sure Kenya’s most vulnerable children get safety, education, love, and the future they deserve.

An additional 500 school children in Kenya will now receive a hot meal every single day! 🇰🇪

The Kenyan Ministry of Education has officially given the green light for our School Feeding Programme to operate in Kiambu County.

This is a huge moment.

Over the next two years, we’ll be working within Kiambu County to make sure more children get the nutritious meals they need to thrive in school.

Our centre in Ngoingwa is in the heart of a growing community.

Hundreds of people walk past every day without knowing what's inside.

When David Munyua and his team visited, one of their first observations was that we needed to be more visible.

So we got this done.

We think it's very Kenyan. We love it.

It covers the fees that keep a teenager in education instead of out of it.
