After a long time of silence on this page…we are BACK.

Why have we been quiet? Honestly? We didn’t have the need to advertise. After fantastic feedback and the power of word of mouth, all our slots have been full for a long time.

However, due to calendar and timetable changes, we now have 3 spaces available for online Science GCSE tutoring.

After the waiting list, this now leaves ONE more space for science tutoring for the remainder of the year leading up to exams. 📕

What an amazing first term of tutoring!!

All students are making great progress, confidence is soaring & science is becoming more & more enjoyable 🤩

As we get ready for the half term break we have our eyes on the November mocks! This will be a great chance to see some of the progress made in real time & also a chance for us to revisit some content & exam techniques as we build towards summer exams🤌🏾

With that in mind…we are no pushing for our GROUP SESSIONS. We aim to set TWO groups:

1. Foundation group - if your child is going to sit the FOUNDATION GCSE paper and is working between a level 1-5.

2. Higher tier group - if your child is going to sit the HIGHER GCSE paper and is working between a 5-9.

Spaces are LIMITED with great response so far & names already filling up.

We are going to be running a group session for JUST £15 per student on a TUESDAY or THURSDAY evening (depending on majority student preference).

This week the first sessions have commenced & it’s been great to meet the new students & start the journey to achieving the grades they want in their GCSE’s. 📈

Demand has been amazing this year & we thank each & everyone one of you that have enquired, signed up & joined our waiting list. 📃

One to one spaces are currently FULL, however, we now have a waiting list with a first come first serve offer when places come available.😌

We are STILL looking for 6-8 GCSE science students to sign up for our GROUP session offer. This service is at a much reduced price to make tutoring more accessible & available to as many as possible.

HOWEVER, we will now focus on fulfilling our group session slots. 6 slots remaining to start at the end of September. ANOTHER great way to get additional support for your child which also affords a cheaper alternative.

Initial subject audits have been sent out & the weekly calendar is being finalised. ✉️

What is the ‘subject audit’?🤷🏾‍♂️

This is a self-assessed form which will allow pupils to rate their confidence in each aspect of each module (for example, in the Cell Biology module they are asked how confident they feel in ‘labelling & defining the key organelles in an animal and plant cell).

This then allows us to get a better idea of their strengths and areas needed for improvement to plan accordingly (this is, of course, continued throughout the sessions and work is altered as required).

Sessions begin NEXT week & we have ONE slot left for one to one tutoring, but don’t worry, we still have a number of spaces left in our GROUP sessions 🤌🏾

2023/24 student highlight 📚

When this student started with us her confidence in not only science, but school in general, was on the FLOOR. 😞

She had found school very difficult for a number of years with her additional needs not being met & supply teachers for over two years!!🥲

In her latest assessment she was ungraded with a ‘U’ & had all but given up on science.

With this particular student we knew that building her confidence & assuring her understanding of the very basic concepts was crucial. We then started to introduce more difficult concepts at a staggered pace with frequent checks of understanding 🤌🏾

From HATING science to ‘I guess it’s ok’ (😂) she progressed so much. From being scared to attempt any questions to leaving no question unanswered, she came on so much.

However, for this particular student what she achieved beyond her grade was so much more important. Her confidence grew in not only school, but life in general. Her parents commented on how she had become a ‘completely different child’ as she had become much happy & was even completing homework we set unprompted.😱

Although we aim for results, it is these kind of journeys that bring us the most joy.

Yes, grades are important, but never more than the young person themselves & that’s where we are different - we invest in the pupil as a human being, not just ‘another student’ who will be defined by their grade. They are SO much more 😊

From getting 2/70 to achieving a 4,3 we couldn’t be more proud…& even more proud of the young woman she has become.

She now moves on to a new college full of confidence & belief for the future 🤩
