KNOW YOUR JUDO WELL SERIES....
Im gonna start throwing up videos now and again of techniques that we don't see in Olympic Judo and therefore, the average Judo player will most likely not have practiced.
The problem is, that once conditioned into a framework over a generation or two, many ideas and techniques can be forgotten and then become alien to a style.
If your instructor says there are no leglocks, hip locks, spine locks, shin or forearm locks, facelocks, wrist locks, striking, weapons or nerve holds and strikes in Judo then there is a few possibilities....
A) They are aware but trying to cover up a lack of knowledge
B) They're trying to sell you something
C) (Most Commonly) Don't know Judo
This isn't hidden information. There's plenty of books and resources out there.

This video was from a Hip Lock session. This particular technique forces a hip lock, a lateral knee lock and calf crush whilst also punishing the external Femural nerve (dead leg spot).

🥋 Technical Tuesday: Know Your Judo Well
Master the Makikomi
Want to shut down your opponent's hand fighting and score big?
In this clip from our seminar on 26 July 2026, special guest Dave Faulkner breaks down a high-percentage transition from the Russian arm tie into a powerful Makikomi takedown.
Key Takeaways:
Dominate the Tie:
Use the Russian arm tie to isolate the limb and compromise their posture.
Create the Angle:
Clear the hands during the hand fighting exchange to open up the throwing lane.
Commit to the Roll:
Secure the Backgrip and use your body weight to drive through the finish.
Perfect details from an incredible seminar. Drill this tonight on the mats!

ARMED FORCES DAY RANDORI 26
ARMED FORCES DAY 2026 - TRIBUTE TO THE TROOPS
As we come together for Armed Forces Day, we pause to recognise and thank the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country with courage, commitment and selflessness.
Britain has a remarkable history. For generations, ordinary people have achieved extraordinary things in the face of adversity. The freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today have been shaped by those who stood firm in defence of our nation and our values. Their legacy is something we should never take for granted.
As a judo club, we understand that strength is about more than physical ability. Judo teaches respect, discipline, resilience, humility and courage—qualities that are also at the heart of our Armed Forces. Whether on the mat or in uniform, success comes through teamwork, dedication and a willingness to support those beside you.
Today is not just about looking back with pride, but also about showing our appreciation to serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families, whose sacrifices often go unseen.
So, on behalf of everyone here, thank you to all who have served our country. Your commitment inspires us, and we are proud to honour you today.
We enjoy freedoms and privileges that may only be kept intact because strong men and women guard us at night. For our flag does not ride on the wind, but on the breath of every service member who gave their lives to protect it.
Things that we should never forget nor take for granted.
Thank you everyone for coming and we hope that you enjoyed this special event. We've helped to support the men and women who support us and you should all be proud of having done something amazing today.
