“I’m so proud of two of our children who supported an initiative to collect donations for a homeless charity in Bristol. Well done and thank you to the children and the amazing staff at our home in Bristol for not forgetting those less fortunate than ourselves at this time of year. Well done, and we are so, so proud of you all!”
On behalf of everyone at Brighter Futures Cymru, we would like to thank you for all your support throughout 2024.
We hope you have wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
October is ADHD awreness month, we would like to raise awareness of ADHD by sharing some information on what ADHD is, common signs of ADHD and how to support those with ADHD.
What is ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition. ADHD affects how the brain functions, which in turn can impact how the person acts and experiences the world.
ADHD is not a mental health condition or a learning disability, but having ADHD might affect a person’s mental health, and some people with ADHD might also have mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression.
ADHD can affect people differently, typically those with ADHD could experience the following:
- Inattentiveness of distractibility – where people may have trouble focusing for long periods of time.
- Hyperactivity and impulsivity – feeling over active and not think before saying or doing things.
- Combined ADHD – a combination of both.
ADHD can be diagnosed at any age, at any time. Some people don’t realise they have ADHD until later in life.
ADHD can also be associated alongside Autism, and is a condition experienced by some of the young people in our care.

I've just come back from a farewell party for a remarkable young person who has lived in one of our homes for the last two years. This individual is embarking on a new chapter, having been accepted into the army.
It has been an honour to spend time with him and to have observed them grow and see the potential that they had within themselves, they just needed care, support and a sprinkling of Love for them to see it themselves. ❤️
What an inspiration you are to so many and thank you for allowing us to sharing this journey with you.
Lastly, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Emily and the team for fostering an environment that has allowed this young person to flourish and recognise their potential. Your efforts are truly transforming lives, and we are immensely proud of you all.👏👏
After two and half years one of our young people has moved on to live independently, we are all so proud of you and all that you have achieved. The 🌍 is truly in your hands now go and grab it and make all those dreams come true.
As for the team, you are all superheroes and we can’t thank you enough for what you All do.❤️❤️
