Toybox Day Nursery We have 5 separate rooms at Toybox Nursery catering for babies from 3 months up to 5 years .

Caterpillar room - Babies age 3 months - 12 months
Ladybird room - Babies age 12 months - 18 months
Butterfly room - Toddlers age 18 months - 2.5 years
Bumble bee room - Pre school age 2.5years - 3 years
Grasshopper room - Pre school age 3 years - 5 years

We are delighted to invite families to our Flying Start Open Afternoon in our dedicated Twlip Room! πŸ’•
Come along and have a look around our lovely new room, meet our friendly team and find out more about what we offer as a Flying Start setting.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the environment, see some of the activities and resources available for the children, and ask any questions you may have about starting nursery with us. 🌱✨
Our dedicated Twlip Room provides a welcoming and nurturing environment for children aged 2–3 years to learn, explore and develop through play.
Flying Start provides 12.5 hours of funded childcare each week, delivered as 2.5 hours per day, up to 5 days a week, for 39 weeks of the year during term time.

Throughout Toybox nursery we use both incidental and focused Welsh language daily. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
We want to say a BIG DA IAWN (well done) to our Pabi room who are responding really well to developing their Welsh language throughout the day. Ticw our Welsh bear has been helping us along the way 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐻

We have introduced Autumn to the Lili room this Week. We have enjoyed Autumn painting, an Autumn area and Pumpkins.

🌟 Seren Yr Wythnos – Star of the Week! 🌟

Last week we introduced β€˜Seren Yr Wythnos’ ⭐ to celebrate and recognise the children’s use of the Welsh language at nursery.

We use Welsh naturally throughout the day through our everyday conversations, songs, routines and activities, and it has been lovely to see the children beginning to use more Welsh themselves. πŸ—£οΈπŸ΄

Using Welsh supports children’s language development, confidence, identity and sense of belonging. It also reflects the Curriculum for Wales, supporting children to develop as confident communicators and encouraging them to value and enjoy the Welsh language as part of their learning and everyday experiences.

We are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and the way they are beginning to use Welsh with their friends and practitioners. πŸŒŸπŸ’š

🌿 Natural Mark Making 🌿

This week, the children have been exploring mark making using natural materials such as broccoli and sticks. They enjoyed experimenting with different marks, lines and patterns, developing their creativity and early writing skills.

This hands-on experience supports the Curriculum for Wales, encouraging curiosity, exploration and creativity while developing fine motor skills and communication through play and discovery. 🌱✏️

Yesterday the Lili room children showed a real interest in the dinosaurs that were in the Sand tray. So in line with our in he moment planning we extended this and enjoyed some Dinosaur printing this promoted their creative and language skills as when stomping the dinosaurs on the paper the children used words like 'Stomp, Stomp' and 'Wow'.

🍎πŸ₯•πŸ₯› Amser Snac – Snack Time! 🍎πŸ₯•πŸ₯›

We’re enjoying our new Amser Snac approach, giving children greater independence and choice. Using our Lazy Susan, children can choose their own snacks while developing confidence, communication and fine motor skills through using different utensils.

We’re also exploring new foods and learning words to describe tastes, textures, colours and shapes, alongside Makaton signs to support communication. 🌟

This approach is also being introduced within our Flying Start provision, supporting children to develop independence and communication from an early age.

The children are loving making their own choices and enjoying snack time together! πŸ’•
