๐ธ Another busy and fun-filled week in Lily Room! ๐ธ
We have been enjoying lots of exciting experiences and learning opportunities together this week. ๐
๐จ We have created a special display wall to proudly showcase the childrenโs beautiful mark-making. Some of the children even had a go at pe***ng their own creations onto the ribbon, developing their fine motor skills, coordination and independence. ๐ผ๏ธ
โ๏ธ We have made the most of the lovely weather in our garden, enjoying the bikes, balls and sandpit, giving the children plenty of opportunities for physical development, exploration and imaginative play.
๐ฆ We also introduced water play into the room, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring with their friends. They have been busy splashing, pouring, filling and emptying while developing their coordination, language and social skills.
All these experiences support the Curriculum for Wales, particularly Belonging, Communication, Exploration, Physical Development and Well-being, while allowing the children to learn through play, make choices and develop their independence. ๐ฑ๐
Another lovely week of learning, exploring and having fun in Lily Room! ๐ฅฐ

๐ง๐ฐ Baking Cakes with Our Friends! ๐
We had lots of fun baking cakes together and, of course, the best part was decorating them with icing and lots of colourful sprinkles! ๐
The children enjoyed talking about what they were doing and sharing their experiences:
๐ฌ โI loved the sprinkles and the icing.โ
๐ฌ โThe eggs cracked and then opened and then we put them in the bowl.โ
๐ฌ โI had flour on my hair!โ ๐
๐ฌ โI liked the sprinkles.โ
Our baking experience supported the Curriculum for Wales, developing communication and vocabulary, fine motor skills, counting and measuring, turn-taking, cooperation, independence and creativity.
The children explored ingredients, followed the process of making cakes and enjoyed learning together with their friends. ๐
Unfortunately, the cakes didn't last long... they were far too delicious! ๐๐ง

๐โโ๏ธโจ Welcome to the Toybox Hairdressers! โจ๐โโ๏ธ
Our children have been busy creating their very own hairdressing salon, taking on the roles of hairdressers, receptionists and customers. They particularly enjoyed washing the staff's hair and loved using lots of new vocabulary such as shampoo, conditioner, rinse, brush, comb, wet, dry, long, short, curly and straight! ๐งด๐ชฎ
This wonderful child-led imaginative play provided so many opportunities to develop communication and language, confidence, social skills, turn-taking, cooperation, fine motor skills, creativity and independence.
It also linked beautifully with the Curriculum for Wales, supporting the five developmental pathways of Belonging, Communication, Exploration, Physical Development and Wellbeing. ๐ฑ
We love seeing where the children's imaginations take them and using their interests to create meaningful learning experiences at Toybox! ๐

This week in Cennin Pedr i would like to celebrate our incredible artists the talent and imagination they show amazes me each day. Their control they have is brilliant this control is built from using their fine motor skills daily. Building tiny muscles through kneeding playdough, pouring and tipping in the sand and water . In the Pabi room we find that the construction areas both inside and outdoors are very popular. Using a range of resources from wooden blocks, stacking cubes, magnetic shapes, boxes, sand, crates, cardboard boxes, traffic cones, ramps, drain pipes and much more.
The option of resources that can be used are endless, every day items are just as beneficial for many of our development as resources intended for construction.
This area of play
- supports physical development by all the manoeuvring of resources and placement of them. Along with developing balance and coordination.
- cognitive development using structural skills, problem solving, cause and effect.
- social and development growth, interaction with peers and supporting adults, language and communication skills, risk taking and creativity.
It has been lovely to see so many individual and group constructions being created.

On Friday in the Daffodil Room, our children enjoyed making their very own sandwiches for snack before heading out for a lovely picnic walk around the college grounds. ๐ฅช๐ณโ๏ธ
We are passionate about promoting independence in the Daffodil Room and encourage our children to have a go, make their own choices, and develop important life skills through everyday experiences. Making their own sandwiches gave everyone the opportunity to practise spreading, choosing their fillings, and preparing their own snack with growing confidence.
Our walk around the college grounds gave us the chance to enjoy the fresh air, explore our surroundings, and share our picnic together. These experiences help to build independence, confidence, communication skills, and a love for the outdoors.
Well done, Daffodil Room โ you all did an amazing job! ๐

We have had a wonderful couple of weeks in our new room 'Pabi' (Poppy).
We have had many adventures.
A few games of cricket, rounders and hide the ball. We have been off to 'Toybox zoo' on an animal hunt. A few bus rides to the beach an even the moon. Not forgetting role play in our home corner.
Along with so many more magical moments.
We are looking forward to all the exciting times ahead.
