One of the questions we get asked most often is what actually comes inside a TOOL quest.
The simple answer is that we wanted to create something that felt more like an adventure than a traditional educational resource.
Every quest combines story-led learning, carefully planned activities, reference materials, worksheets, videos, rewards, and community support to help make learning engaging and accessible.
Throughout each adventure, Odysmir the Wandering Sage is there to guide, encourage, and journey alongside learners as they explore new topics and ideas.
Some quests are completely free, while others can be explored as individual sessions or as complete 10-session adventures.
We put a huge amount of planning, care, and attention into every quest so that families can simply open, explore, and enjoy the journey.

We were gifted tickets to the RHS gardens, and it felt a bit like nature had created its own art exhibition.
From bold bursts of colour to delicate patterns and textures, there was inspiration around every corner.
It goes to show that the most beautiful gallery isn't found inside a building at all.

The Realm of Roaming Beasts was the first realm to open within The Chronicles of the Vale.
Filled with creatures great and small, it takes young adventurers on a journey through the animal kingdom, exploring everything from birds and insects to amphibians, ocean life, mammals, and reptiles.

Wings of Wisdom is available now as a free quest, and Legends of Tiny Titans is already open.
With more quests waiting beyond the horizon, which would you most like to explore next?

The Chronicles of the Vale is our story-led learning world, created to make learning feel more immersive, engaging, and adventurous.
Rather than presenting topics as subjects, we have woven them into six unique realms, each filled with quests designed to spark curiosity, creativity, exploration, and discovery.
Whether your child is fascinated by wildlife, enchanted by stories, inspired by creativity, captivated by history, or eager to explore the mysteries of space, there is a realm waiting to be discovered.
Three realms are already open, with more adventures waiting beyond the horizon.
Which realm is calling to you?

Dice are rolling in the Vale for the very first timeβ¦
Here at TOOL, we also happen to have our very own Dungeon Master, who has begun creating D&D campaigns within The Chronicles of the Vale itself.
These adventures will journey through all six realms of the Vale, with players encountering familiar lore, locations, stories, and characters, including Odysmir.
For us, this feels like a natural extension of everything TOOL is slowly becoming:
story-led learning, creativity, imagination, exploration, collaboration, and shared experiences.
Alongside our travelling board game groups, these small-group RPG sessions for ages 8+ will offer children and young people the chance to step into stories together, solve problems creatively, build confidence, and experience the power of shared imagination.
Seeing the Vale slowly grow from pages and ideas into a world people can actively explore together feels incredibly special.

We had a fab time visiting York and while we were there, we explored possible spaces for our travelling board games group for home educating families.
One of the places we visited was Up A Level, where we had a lovely chat and discovered that a home ed group already benefits from using the space, which honestly made perfect sense the moment we walked in.
It is welcoming, friendly, right in the centre of York, has plenty of tables, food and drinks available, a great library of games, and even a video gaming section too.
We are currently exploring the possibility of setting something up there on either a Friday or Monday and what that might look like.
As TOOL continues to travel, we are also really interested in bringing our games into existing home ed meet-up spaces around the UK, beginning with North Wales, Chester, York, Manchester and Coalville.
So if you already run or attend a regular home ed group and would love us to come along with a selection of games and teach a few sessions completely free of charge, we would genuinely love to hear from you.
