Our game selection for October!

We believe that playing boardgames is fantastic for our mental health and wellbeing, and it's our way of relaxing and having fun.

It's extra exciting this year as Akshay has booked a week off work, meaning we might stand a chance of actually playing all of our chosen games.

We will definitely be taking a couple of them away on our weekend break to Conwy!

What if we all shared the knowledge and experience we've gained over the years?

We'd like to do just that, in the hope that it might help other families in some small way.

It's been a rollercoaster of a ride and we've learnt a LOT along the way.

We've learnt how to navigate broken systems, deal with endless paperwork, ask questions, challenge things when they don't seem right and keep going in search of the peaceful life we are striving for. 😂

There have been loads of times when we wished someone would just come alongside us and say, “I've been here. I know what you're going through. Maybe I can help.”

So if sharing some of what we've learnt might help someone else, we're very happy to do that.

We don't claim to have all the answers, but sometimes sharing our experiences might help someone else find their way through something we've already been through.

Amazing day in Liverpool! There is always just so much to see there as we explore new ideas for our learning quests.

However, the highlight of our trip was just before leaving when we stumbled across Paper Cup Project, Liverpool where we enjoyed fab coffee and a delicious lunch.

Not only was the entire service amazing, we were blown away by their initiative to help people experiencing homelessness. Fantastic staff doing a fantastic job.

We will visit again soon.

We are turning the whole thing into a FREE interactive storybook!

Our Halloween Adventure Quest has taken on a life of its own...

You'll be heading deep into the Whispering Woods with Odysmir, but things aren't quite as they should be.

There are five houses that need your help before midnight.

There's just one problem...

Odysmir only has the key to the first one.

You'll have to solve mysteries and puzzles, experiment with potions and spells, and take on all sorts of challenges to find the other four keys and bring calm and restoration to all five houses before midnight.

We're putting the final touches together now and hope it brings a little bit of Halloween excitement into your homes this October.

What a great afternoon we had at The Lowry in Manchester!

We thoroughly enjoyed the 360 immersive experience and took our time looking around the gallery afterwards.

There is so much for kids of all ages to do there and everything is fully accessible. The staff are also really helpful and friendly which we believe is key when we are out and about.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon whilst in the area visiting family.

We are beyond excited to share a sneak peek of our new Odysmir!

We are so lucky that our son's very talented girlfriend has created this and quite literally brought a character we dreamt up a year or so ago to life.

We LOVE him and his perfect little face!

Evie has thought of everything, with all the extra details such as the butterfly, staff and pendant.

Odysmir is a knowledgeable wanderer, guiding children through the Vale. He is kind, occasionally absent-minded, funny and has a slightly magical feel about him.

She has captured everything we had hoped for, revealing his personality through her wonderful artwork.

We're definitely in that lovely in-between bit of the year.

We were out and about yesterday and autumn has started to make an appearance.

Hawthorn berries, blackberries ripening, apples on the trees... but still lots green around too.

We love spotting all the little changes as one season turns into another.

This is a walk that we do often but we particularly love it during a season change.

We're having a complete revamp of our resources, which feels rather exciting!

We've got lots of ideas for giving our adventures a fresh new look and bringing everything together in a way that feels much more like us.

We're really proud of the adventures we've created and all the learning, exploring and ideas packed into them, and we're quite excited to start playing around with how we present them.

It's going to take us a little while to work our way through everything, so while we restructure our little corner, we've decided to make all of our original resources completely FREE!

Last night we played Forest Shuffle and Evergreen.

Our verdict?

🌲 Forest Shuffle - Loved this one! This will definitely be a regular feature on our gaming table.

🌳 Evergreen - Looks complicated. Surprisingly isn't. Beautiful, tactile game.

Thanks for recommending these two Bo | Your friend in games - Both will be played often with family and within groups.

Throughout September, we'll continue playing our way through some nature-themed games, as well as having a go at breaking down some of the rules in a clearer, more visual and neurodivergent-friendly way.
