Today the children showed great interest in the many ladybirds they had found while exploring outdoors. They decided to make a ladybird house to give the ladybirds a safe place to live. The children talked about what ladybirds might need, gathered natural materials, and worked together to build their house.

This activity encouraged curiosity about the natural world and supported communication, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. The children demonstrated kindness and care for living things as they discussed how to look after the ladybirds and their habitat.

With warmer weather on the horizon, we’re fully prepared for the next heatwave. Our nursery is equipped with air conditioning in every room, ensuring a comfortable and cool environment for both our children and staff throughout the warmer months.

Providing a safe, comfortable and enjoyable setting is always a priority, allowing children to continue learning, playing and thriving, whatever the weather 💚

Today our babies enjoyed their very first walk together, exploring the world side by side. They loved taking in the beautiful natural surroundings, watching the leaves move in the breeze, listening to the birds sing, and feeling the fresh air on their faces.

It was a wonderful first adventure that sparked curiosity, promoted wellbeing, and created special memories for our youngest learners 💚

The cooler weather has meant we’ve been making the most of our wonderful outdoor environment here at Holly Tree Nursery. 🌿
Our children have loved watering and caring for our plants, developing their balance and coordination through active play, and exploring our sand pit through imaginative, sensory experiences.
Outdoor play is an important part of the EYFS, supporting children’s physical development, communication, confidence, curiosity, and understanding of the world—all while having lots of fun! 🍃💚
