Are you actively pressing into the bar overhead?

A common mistake is squeezing the shoulder blades together or holding them down while trying to stabilise the weight.

Your shoulder blades need to rotate upward as your arms go overhead.

Your serratus anterior and traps work together to support that movement but a lot of the time, the upper traps are overactive.

Try this on your next overhead session:

✅ Push the bar towards the ceiling.
✅ Let your shoulder blades rotate upward.
✅ Keep your elbows straight and ribs stacked over your pelvis.

Practise with a light load and think: “Reach tall through the bar.”

Send this to someone who struggles with overhead positions.

Stop trying to squat like everyone else.

One of the biggest mistakes we see is people forcing themselves into a stance that isn’t theirs, all because they saw someone else squat that way.

The truth is, your squat stance comes down to your anatomy, your femur length and the shape and orientation of your hip sockets.

That’s why some people naturally squat with a narrower stance, while others need width and turned out feet just to hit proper depth comfortably.

Cues like “stay upright” or “stop leaning forward” aren’t universal either, they can actually work against your natural mechanics.

There’s no one perfect squat.

It’s what works for your body.

Tendon pain develops, but the tendon isn’t always the problem.

Overloading how it’s used, through too much too soon, or not enough recovery between sessions, can push it past what it can handle.

That’s when it starts to hurt.

Loading the tendon matters, not just how much you do, but how you build up to it.

What’s often mistaken for damage isn’t what’s wrong with the tendon at all, it’s a capacity issue, not a structural one.

Dealing with tendon pain that won’t settle?

Let’s build a loading plan that actually works.

Injury matters, yes.

But it’s not the only thing influencing your pain.

Things like your sleep, your stress, and how you recover all play a part too, sometimes the same “injury” feels completely different depending on what else is going on in your body.

If you want to properly manage pain, you’ve got to look at the full picture, not just the site that hurts.

Struggling with pain let’s look at what’s really going on.

Meet Leona, our sports massage therapist here at Dynamic.

If you’ve never had a sports massage with us before, here’s exactly what to expect.

We’ll start with a chat, talking through your concerns, any previous injuries, and what’s been feeling tight or restricted.

From there, it’s hands-on, working through the areas that need it most and moving on to wherever your body’s holding tension.

Afterwards, Leona will send over aftercare advice so the benefits carry on well past the session.

So if you’re in need of a sports massage, whether you’re an athlete, training hard, or just carrying stress in your body, we’ve got you covered.

Rehab isn’t just about training a muscle like it only works one way.

But muscles don’t work in isolation, they control movement in 3D.

Take the rotator cuff, it doesn’t just move your shoulder, it stabilises it through every plane of motion.

Walking, running, sport, none of it happens in one direction, so your rehab shouldn’t either.

If your programme only trains straight lines, it’s missing half the picture.

let’s build a rehab plan that actually matches how you move.

Tight calves holding you back?

It’s probably not tightness at all. It’s a loading issue.

Your calves aren’t stiff for no reason, they’re often being overworked and under-recovered, which your body reads as “tight.”

Here’s three exercises to fix the actual problem, not just mask the symptom.

Struggling with calf tightness that never seems to go away?

Sport doesn’t happen in a straight line, so why should your rehab?

Plyometric training is a key part of getting you back to full strength, building the power, control, and reactive speed you need to move confidently in every direction, not just forwards and backwards.

Whether it’s jumping or changing direction on the pitch or court, your body needs to be trained for those exact movements to truly recover and perform.

That’s why we build plyometrics into rehab plans where it counts.

Want to move like sport actually demands book in with our team and let’s build a plan that gets you back to it properly.

The modified Thomas test quickly reveals tight hip flexors, a common cause of lower back pain, hip discomfort, and poor running form. It takes a minute, but tells us exactly where your mobility’s being held back.

Tight hips quietly affect your posture, your squat, your whole movement pattern. Once we know what’s tight, we can fix it.
