“ON N’EST PAS CHEZ MÉMÉ !”

French parents deploy this line with the precision of a laser guided missile.

It’s the universal reminder that:

- No you can’t leave your shoes in the middle of the hallway.
- No, the sofa is not a trampoline.
- And no, you’re not being served like royalty tonight.

It’s basically the French version of:

“ Pack it in, You live here, act with respect”

CULTURE DROP
June in Germany means one thing - ERDBEERZEIT.

Strawberry season!

Early June is the time when strawberries are at their sweetest and the whole country gets excited.

Families head to Erdbeerfelder (Strawberry fields) to pick their own, markets are full and bakeries start to sell Erdbeerkuchen (strawberry cakes)

Children will go on school trips to local strawberry farms and learn how they grow.

Word of the day: die Erdbeere - the strawberry.

“PIPI, LES DENTS, AU LIT.”

Every French child knows this phrase.
Every French parent shouts it daily down a hallway.
Every French teacher knows it works better than any behaviour chart ever invented.

They mean business.
If only all routines were this efficient!

Imagine if:
“Shoes, coat, bag.” Didn’t take 30 minutes?
“Homework, cricket kit, out the door.” Worked instantly, without a ‘I’m just!’

That last one is my life at the moment!

We can dream.

CULTURE DROP - Festa della Repubblica

On 2nd June, Italy celebrated its national day, called Festa della Repubblica.
It’s a bit like Italy’s birthday - a day when the whole country celebrates being a republic.

Across Italy you’ll see:
🇮🇹 Italian flags hanging from windows and balconies
🎺 parades in the streets, a big one in Rome
✈️ aeroplanes flying overhead leaving red, white and green smoke trails

It’s a colourful, joyful celebration of Italy’s history, culture and community.

Word of the day: La bandiera - the flag

Ask your child if they know the colours of the Italian flag!
