Cup Semi-Final
Woodkirk Academy U16 faced their toughest challenge yet as they took on Pudsey Grammar in the cup semi-final.
Pudsey started the stronger side, using the wind to their advantage in the first half and applying early pressure. However, Woodkirk’s defence stood incredibly firm. Goalkeeper Grayson delivered a confident performance, supported brilliantly by a resilient back four of Niamh L, Jess M, Maisie B and Macy T—arguably their strongest display of the season.
In midfield, Emily P, Amelia P, Lucy R and Georgie R worked tirelessly, linking play effectively and creating opportunities for striker Poppy T. Their persistence paid off when Poppy opened the scoring with a powerful right-footed strike, showing great strength and skill to beat the defender and the keeper.
Just before half-time, Poppy struck again with another superb solo effort, battling through the opposition defence before calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner to give Woodkirk a 2–0 lead at the break.
The second half saw Kayla C introduced up front to bring fresh energy. With the advantage secured, Woodkirk adopted a disciplined defensive approach to protect their lead. Captain Abbie H led by example, dropping back to strengthen the defence and ensuring that any threats were dealt with confidently.
Despite the weather worsening, Woodkirk showed great determination and composure, maintaining their structure and seeing out the game with maturity.
A fantastic team performance secured a 2–0 victory, sending Woodkirk Academy U16 through to the cup final, which will be held in May at Leeds Beckett University.

Our chicks have finally arrived! 🐣🐤
We now have nine little ones settling into their new environment. 🪹
The school has been buzzing with excitement since the eggs began to hatch. It all started on Wednesday around 2:40 pm when the first chick cracked open its shell. From then until Thursday morning, more followed suit, and by the time we returned to school, we had eight chicks. To our delight, another one emerged overnight, making it nine cheerful chicks in total.
