Our Level 2 Animal Care and Level 2 Equine students from Askham Bryan College Wakefield recently had the fantastic opportunity to visit the West Yorkshire Mounted Unit🐴
During the visit, students gained a valuable insight into the role of mounted police officers and the important work they do within the community. They learned about the training and equitation skills required for both horse and rider, explored the different types of tack and equipment used by the unit, and discussed feeding and management routines that help keep the horses in peak condition🐎
The visit provided a great opportunity for students to link their classroom learning to a real-world working environment, while also discovering the high standards of care, training, and professionalism involved in managing police horses🚨
A huge thank you to the team at the West Yorkshire Mounted Unit for sharing their knowledge and giving our students such an engaging and informative experience👏
